Using Books For Self-Growth
Written by Amit Pandey
Life is a roller-coaster ride…at times more down that up. We all face problems of some kind or the other. One of the best ways of self-improvement is to learn from other people’s experiences. Whether you are trying to lose weight, overcome an embarrassing social habit, give up an addiction, manage a family crisis or just improve your financial situation, remember that there are others who faced this challenge before…and found a successful way to get over it.
You can turn to friends, family, social groups or professional counselors. However, if you wish to keep it really private, turn to books. Even before the modern push-button-for-information age, books formed an ever-increasing storehouse of experiences and practical advice. The biggest advantage of using a book for finding a solution to your problem is that it never questions your will, never haunts you through your effort, never criticizes you for failure and is always there to start all over again if you wish. What’s more, it never asks you to take or keep an appointment and does not charge you for a repeat visit. This is not to undermine the efficacy of a personal touch if you can find it. In case you can’t, you can always find a friend in a book.
Digital media has done its own bit in making books more accessible and even giving them a new avatar…ebooks. With the ease of publishing that ebooks offer, the Internet is practically flooded with people wanting to share their triumphs and tragedies. Some of the stuff is really not worth much, but then there is a lot that can actually benefit you.
At times some of the most prudent advice comes from the most bizarre looking titles. Imagine finding books that helps you be irresistible to people, rapidly lose weight without starving, learn insider secrets to successful internet marketing, cope with infidelity, cure your yeast infection naturally, overcome excessive blushing, sell old torn newspapers and magazines on ebay, write an ebook and sell it successfully, secretly hypnotize people, get your man back, learn the best ways to propose...and more. There are books written by licensed practitioners and counselors that can make you laugh...or change your life!
