Various types of underground pipes
Written by vish ks
Water is the life blood of nation and water supply pipes are indispensable for supply and distribution of that life blood. Water supply pipes are critical components which keep every building, home and factories functioning. Governments are investing significant amount of money in designing, installing and maintaining new water distribution systems as well as to repair, repair or upgrade existing water supply pipes. So certain things should be considered while selecting pipes for the water supply that may include strength of pipe, water carrying capacity, life and durability of pipe, expenditure on transportation and jointing process, maintenance and repairs.
Pipes are available in different types and sizes and are classified into three groups according to the material used in their manufacturing.
Metallic pipes: It is of three types such as CI pipe, steel pipes and GI pipes. CI which is also known as Cast iron pipes are widely used in water supply As these pipes are heavy in weight it can withstand exte
al load and are easy in manufacturing, layout and joining. These pipes require heavy transportation charge and they are not suitable for inaccessible places. Due to heavy weight they are generally made in short length which also increases the layout and joining cost.
Steel pipes are best suitable for long distance pipe lines of high pressure with excellent mechanical properties and are ideally suited for welding. Not like CI pipes these pipes are made in length more than twice the length of CI pipes which also saves in transport layout of pipe and joining cost.
Cement pipes are more advantageous among other type of metallic pipes as it consists of corrosion resistance. But these pipes are heavy and bulkier and the layout process of these pipes is costlier than steel pipes.
Asbestos Cement pipesr
These cement pipes are lighter in weight which makes transportation and layout easy. Their internal surfaces have smooth quality and will not affect by rust. You can drill holes in these pipes and are extensively used for water supply systems. The most important aspect is these pipes are not so costlier when compared with other types.
Plastic pipesr
Un-plasticized PVC pipes are also frequently used for piping water. These pipes are light weight and strong which enables us to transport them in larger sections at very low cost. Another advantage is the smooth internal surface of these pipes, water can flow greatly unimpeded, and that results in saving of energy. One big advantage while using these UPVC pipes as you can use it in extremely hot environments.
Water pipes are some of the basic and important elements in any building. It will be a challenging task to choose what types of pipes to use while undertaking a project. So you have to carefully choose the pipes as underground pipes distribute water across great distances and it should keep the water fresh and uncontaminated.

How an Asbestos Survey Helps Protect Health and Safety
Asbestos has long been recognized as a silent threat to health and safety. Found in many older buildings, this mineral fiber can lead to severe health conditions when disturbed. Today, asbestos-related illnesses continue to emerge, reminding us how essential it is to detect and manage its presence. One of the most effective ways to handle this challenge is through an asbestos survey. An asbestos survey serves as a critical safety step for property owners, construction teams,
