News of an actor or actress losing several kilos in just a few days for a movie is not new. In the last few days, such news has been read a lot. The part of this, an instant weight loss is more attractive. Let's find out how good it is to lose a lot of weight in a short period of time, what exactly is considered good & bad in losing weight.
Instant weight loss is inappropriate???
Many people are wondering what to do and what not to do to lose weight. One thing to keep in mind here is, does losing weight fit into the concept of 'healthy weight loss'?
Now what is this 'healthy weight loss'?
If Weight loss is be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness, then instant weight loss and instant weight gain are not considered good for metabolism. It is true that some people such as actors, celebrities, models lose or gain weight in the short run as per the need of their profession. But it should not be forgotten that there is constant medical or other help for them during this period. Many people go on a crash diet to lose weight fast, try to boost their metabolism with a variety of drugs and injections, and also take appetite suppressants. But it has also been banned by the World Health Organization because of its many side effects. Instant weight loss is never recommended by medical science.
The balance of metabolism is important
Before you start reducing extra weight/obesity, you need to know what stage of obesity you are at and also consider the other ailments you have. It determines how long and how to lose weight. It is a common misconception that overeating leads to weight gain and there will be weight loss when you stop eating. Every person's metabolism is different and this activity is closely related to weight gain. Therefore, the same method of weight loss does not apply to everyone.
Metabolism is the balance between the energy consumed by the body and the energy expended. This imbalance leads to weight gain. There are some internal and some external factors to consider. What we eat and how much we eat, how much calories we burn is also important. Two people of the same weight who go to the gym together and follow the same diet will not lose weight at the same rate. Weight loss will be followed by fatigue and constant tiredness. This can lead to a disturbed balance of metabolism and needs to be addressed.
Can obesity surgery be performed by everyone?
Not everyone can have bariatric surgery for obesity. This can be an option for people who are in the third stage of obesity, as it helps to reduce the chances of co-morbidities. Those who have a BMI above 32.5 and have diabetes, high blood pressure, fatty liver, heart disease, kidney disease, joint pain, sleep apnea, and some other ailments may be eligible for bariatric surgery. However, in people below 32.5 BMI, the surgery may also be beneficial for obese people who have an advanced disease like diabetes.
The effects of surgery usually begin to appear after 6 weeks. As the weight gradually decreases, the patient comes closer to achieving his weight loss goal in about a year. Of course, even after surgery, it is important to pay attention to diet and exercise as advised by the doctor.
How much weight to lose in how many days?
How much weight you can lose in a few days varies according to the degree of obesity. Generally, 10 to 15% weight loss in 3 to 4 months is considered good and can reduce the risk of obesity related diseases. But this weight loss needs to be done with medical advice and in a healthy way.
Stages of obesity
If a person's Body Mass Index (BMI) is between 18 and 25, it is considered normal.
If Indians have a BMI of 25 to 28.5, they are considered overweight.
A BMI of 28.5 to 32.5 is the first step in obesity.
A BMI of 32.5 to 37.5 is the second stage and a BMI of 37.5 is called the third stage of obesity.
As obesity progresses, a person is more likely to develop other related illnesses. Other internal factors related to obesity in a person with high BMI are examined and the possibility of other diseases in their case is taken into consideration. From that, treatments are decided for that person.
While losing more weight in less time, celebrities follow a strict diet and exercise. They take in as few calories as they are destined to enter the stomach. Exercise is as important as diet for weight loss. But the body type of every individual is different and just because someone else lost weight by particular diet & medicines doesn't mean that there will be any benefit to 'diet' or exercise like that. So it is better to lose weight with the right advice according to your Body type.
