Having painful warts on the soles of the feet is really uncomfortable and at the same time embarrassing. Human papilloma virus is highly contagious and people could avoid you. If you have weak immune system and other health issues like diabetes, it is important that you consult your doctor on how to treat plantar warts.

Here are some of the common procedures to treat plantar warts:

Salicylic acid. Over the counter medicines like salicylic acid can help you treat plantar warts. Applying the solution on the affected area as directed is one way to eliminate warts but you have to be careful not to damage the surrounding healthy skin.

Duct tape. There are research and studies that duct tape is effective in removing warts. This is a less painful and inexpensive way to treat plantar warts. The process works by applying duct tape on the warts for six days and then removing the duct tape by soaking it in water and rubbing with pumice stone to remove the skin on top of the warts. This procedure is commonly done on children because this is less painful unlike other aggressive treatments for warts.

Warts freezing or cryotherapy. This is a more aggressive procedure to treat plantar warts. This procedure is performed by a doctor by applying liquid nitrogen on your warts. This procedure can be painful and not advised for children.

Laser surgery. This is another aggressive procedure to treat plantar warts and this treatment is expensive. You may also feel pain during the treatment and it may take a longer time to heal after the treatment.

There are a lot of procedures to treat plantar warts. Some treatments are simple and some are really aggressive. But there are times that despite of all the treatments available, there are stubborn warts that keep coming back.

If you have tried a lot of treatments and still suffering from recurring warts outbreak, another option is to treat plantar warts using natural methods. Natural remedies have been around for ages to treat diseases and skin problems including warts.
