Human papilloma virus is the virus responsible for causing and spreading warts. These warts are however benign skin growths that infect the top skin layer, which are highly contagious. Even touching things that a person with warts had touched can transmit the virus to you.

Not all types of warts cause pain or discomfort, however people look for warts remedies to control the warts and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the body and to other people. There are different types of warts, which are broadly classified into plantar or foot warts, common warts, flat warts and genital warts. While warts remedies for all types of warts are similar, it is better to consult a doctor before treating genital warts because of the sensitive locality of the warts.
Over the counter products

Warts treatment is best done using over the counter products like creams and ointments containing salicylic acid. These products effectively treat warts by killing the fungal infection. However this is not an ove
ight cure. You have to apply the mixture on the warts everyday for at least a few months before you experience any benefit from it.

It is always better to file off the dead skin using an emery board, pumice stone or blade before applying salicylic acid. This is to ensure salicylic acid reaches the live cells of the warts, and thus nips the problem in the bud.

Duct tape helps

There are various home warts remedies that prove helpful in treating your warts. One famous option involves the use of duct tape. You just have to apply a piece of duct tape on the wart, and leave it on for a few days.

After removing the tape, you have to soak the wart in water and then use an emery board or pumice stone to scrape away dead skin. Then, duct tape should once again be placed on the wart and this procedure has to be repeated for about two months, or until the wart falls off.

Banana peels too are effective wart treatment options. All you need to do is soak the warts in water to facilitate quicker absorption and faster treating of the warts. Then, a piece of banana peel, preferably from a banana that just ripened should be placed on the wart.

Secure it using a piece of tape and leave it ove
ight. The next morning, remove the peel, and after a shower, repeat the process. Most people see immediate differences in the warts, which fall off within a fortnight.
Cryosurgery

If you are looking for a faster wart remedies, cryosurgery is a better option. This is a wart treatment option where freezing cryoprobes of liquid nitrogen is used to remove the wart without causing much damage to surrounding skin. There is seldom much discomfort during the process; at the most, you may feel as if an ice cube is stuck in your skin for a few minutes.

After a few hours of cryotherapy, you find the wart looking raised and red in color. There may be some burning sensation and faint tingling in surrounding areas, but nothing serious. However be careful that you do not burst this blister as bursting it can lead to a re-infection of the region and the reformation of the wart. After a few days’ time, the wart falls off.
