Ways to amuse yourself in Dubai

Every major city in the world has at least one amusement theme park. Due to Dubai’s economic boom in the last two decades the city has turned out to become an important metropolitan and trading hub in the Middle East. Dubai has everything from world renowned chain of hotels to golf courses, from five star resorts to massive malls but it lacked an amusement park. Hence in 2007 Tatweer, a subsidiary of Dubai Holdings and Universal studios came together to build a mega-complex in Dubai land named Universal Studio Dubailand.
Universal Parks and Resort is theme park division of multinational conglomerate NBC Universal which is a media and entertainment company based in New York. The company operates four theme parks around the world. Universal Studio Dubailand will be its fifth venture.
The project is estimated to cost around $2.2 billion dollars or 8 billion Dirhams. After the commencement of construction in July of 2008, the work was put on hold shortly after August of 2009 due to global financial crises of 2008 and 2009. The entire world was in a financial mess and therefore it was essential to put Universal Studio Dubai to a temporary stop. The developers declared that the project will be delayed till the first quarter of 2012.
Universal Studios Dubailand is proposed to have five themed areas. The first one being ‘Hollywood’, the design of which will be something similar to the Universal Studios in Florida. The restaurant chain of Planet Hollywood will also be opened their, this will also be the largest restaurant in the park. It is also expected to have Mel’s Diner building like the one at Singapore Park.
Surf City will be the second theme area at the park in Universal Studio Dubai. It will include a sand castle, frantic freeway and a beach themed area featuring ‘woody woodpecker’s Nuthouse Coaster’ for the kids.
New York being the third theme will have Blues Brothers shows. It will also include ‘Hooray’ for indoor Bollywood shows. A special building will be constructed to host an indoor air-conditioned undercover ‘Gramercy Park Square’ in Universal Studio Dubai.
Legendary Heroes will be the forth theme at Universal Studio Dubailand. It is expected to host an indoor ‘Revenge of the Mummy’ roller coaster ride, which is absolutely terrific. ‘Eight Voyage of Sinbad’, a play area for foam ball and a water area by the name of ‘King Tut’s Oasis’ will also be the main attractions of the proposed area.
The last theme area at the park will be Epic Adventures area. People are very fond of roller coasters and simply love the rides. This theme Park will include the ‘Jurassic Park Rapids Adventure’, a water world and one of the worlds’ most advanced roller coaster ride. The ‘King King dueling roller coaster’ will also be a major visitors’ attraction at the Universal Studios Dubai.
