Starting this article to write, I have no clue where it goes to or will end up. The only thing I know something has to come out! The last three months my world grow bigger and bigger from the minute I dived into the Internet Ocean to make a website about my life. Before that, my world was also big but on a different way, let me show you the outline:

I live in a horse drawn caravan on about 75,35 ft² together with my husband, hitting the roads of Europe. Driving from the North Sea, step by step, till far into the East. When I step out the caravan door, the world is bigger than you can imagine. Gardens with flowers and grass I never have to mown. The caravan we live in, pulled by two Haflingers horses, is my home and world for 11 months now. On winter times, we stay on a fixed spot, and then we try to make some money, planning to go further traveling in March.

Everybody who knows about our journey is envy that we live in this dream. Sometimes I want to scream: are you crazy?! This life is NOT romantic; it’s NOT easy, NOT spiritual and last of all this life is NOT sole saving.

There: it’s out. I am sick and tired the way people think about this life. When they ask thousand questions about it, the answers are not really important to them. What they want to hear is a reflection of their dreams, their ideas they have of living in a horse drawn caravan. Do you think walking 2 miles for hay and water is easy? Do you think living together in this narrow space where you can hear toilet noises, clear one’s throat, still is romantic? Do you think that walking in the rain, wind or snow is spiritual?

People suppose that saying goodbye to the boss and become a traveler will liberate them from work pressure. In a way, I encourage this idea by telling all our experiences in a website called Slow Express Journey. (That’s why I dived into the internet ocean, remember?) We are telling about the strange, beautiful and odd people we met. Describing traffic jams, dangerous roads and spectacular views. Does that mean I am a liar? No, I don’t think so, because this life is not the above mentioned, something else must drive me.n n

Two years ago, I quit my job where I have been worked for the last ten years. We sold our house, a nice house with lots of space, kitchen and bathrooms. Both of us worked hard to pay mortgage and holidays in need for money to buy two cars, to drive to our work, etc etc. Suddenly we did not like this treadmill anymore. Almost in our fifty’s it was now or never. Saying this, it did not take much time to let go of everything. With every goodbye, with every sale we made, throwing away our belongings it was like totally freedom. Life it selves was taken of my shoulder. nWhen we start this journey it was like the people we meet now, anticipating on a dream, not an experience. Now I know better: it’s not a dream, not a quest, it’s just another life. Therefore, here I am; no house or job, no bathroom either, living in a 8,37 yd² large horse drawn caravan. Am I foolish? Yes and no because this life is not the above sad story of bad weather, taking care of the horses and indecent noises, it’s much more. In March, we start again, and I can’t wait to step on the box. Why? Because I do that in my own time, whit now one putting pressure on me to do so. Because when we walk with water and hay, we know the horses are happy with us. Because when I am on the toilet my beloved one stay’s outside, even when it’s cold. Because also on rainy day’s I have the courage to go on and on the extra mile. I am proud about myself to have let go all security of a paid job and a fixed pension. Most of all I enjoy this life with my husband. My second love and soul mate forever. nTogether we can shut out the world when we want to and let them in by opening the curtains. We can make the world as big or small as we desire. Therefore, when you read our website story, remember it’s YOUR dream we live. n
