Website safety concern improved

Last Wednesdays the Hong Kong stock exchange (HKEx) disclosure website was attacked.
The HKEx suspended trading in seven companies with a combined market value of HK$1.5 trillion, involving HSBC, Cathay Pacific Airways and the HKEx, a debt security and 419 warrants and derivatives linked to the suspended stocks.
HKEx launched a backup website to release company information or trading information or the accident investigation update news.
The HKEx said on Thursday that it had expanded distribution channels for posting company information through newspaper advertisements, emails and third-party webpage. Because many small investors could not access the website and they need information urgently.
Brokers can not access the disclosure website and the investigation revealed that the attacks prevented access to the website by overwhelming its capacity to handle traffic.
The hackers attempted to attack again on Thursday and Friday while they failed in the end.
The incident sounded alarm for website system security now. Brokers may worry about next attack, which may lead some untrue or unauthorized information posted on the website, such as fake announcement or company news alteration information, generating panic selling or buying.
All the websites operators need to check the webpage thoroughly to prevent cyber attackï¼which may cause website inaccessible or information release.
Such incident could cause heavy losses for those who prefer online mode, which is popular and favored on the market now.
