Weight-loss, in my experience, is best done by losing the reasons why we overeat, under-exercise, sleep very little, or are mega-stressed. All of these reasons have been proven to contribute to weight loss. Emotional Freedom Techniques, in most of its forms, involves saying what we desire that does not serve us, whilst stimulating special acupressure points to release these feelings at their energy source. Without the energy fuelling the feeling, the vast majority of tappers release the negative feelings leading to their reasons why they got overweight.

With most forms of EFT, saying the seemingly negative words while tapping can feel a little concerning. For instance, if we have a desire to always finish our plate, even after we are physically full, we tap a statement such as "I want to finish my plate" rather than "I don't want to finish my plate". This can take the newcomer to EFT some getting used to. They want to lose the weight, but they are afraid of saying something that seems negative. But remember, being overweight, with all the well-known medical consequences is not a positive thing in the first place. It is certainly a bit of a mind-battle for the person who has just been introduced to tapping for slimming to admit to any negative feelings.

Remember that we are simply releasing energy blocks in our energy body. EFT is not by any stretch psychology or anything like that. It is all about improving energy flow, so we think more clearly and act how we would like to act. The reasons why we say what we say is that we are throwing the emotional rubbish away.

Like the rubbish in your home, if you do not throw it away, it gets smelly, and before you know it, your home will be full of cockroaches, mice or other unwanted guests. So you keep your home clean by throwing away the rubbish. Unhelpful feelings like "I want to finish my plate" are rubbish feelings that we need to throw away. They do not serve us. So we tell our energy body when tapping that we want to let go of any unnecessary thought, feeling, or energy related to the need to finish our plate.

If it helps you, you can tap instead of the shortened version of "I want to finish my plate" the longer version that makes it crystal clear, of "I want to finish my plate, I want to let this feeling go" or tap on one point "I want to finish my plate" and on the next point "let it go".

Of course, you should always check with your doctor for any medical conditions which may contribute to weight gain, before embarking on your slimming journey.
