Getting your first car as a teenager is sure a thrilling experience, but not equally so for the concerned parents who are worried about their children's safety and well being. Before you give in to the demands of your teenager, ask your self the most important question: Does your teenaged child really need a car? When your teenager is demanding a personal car, the first thing you need to address is whether they actually need it, or is it just another random whim of theirs to appear hip. If you often have to chauffer them around to school, lessons, or other places, and public transport in your city is not quite reliable, the answer is probably, yes, they do need a car. If not, simply say a firm "no" and postpone the decision to a later time. If you have figured out that a self-driven car is an absolute necessity for your kid, the following set of advices can be helpful: 1) Drive safe at all times You need to consider if your teen will make a responsible driver. Their safety should be foremost if you are allowing them to have a personal car. Advise them to drive responsibly. Even used vehicles don't come in too cheap. You have to do loads of research and comparisons before you can fix your mind on any one car to buy. You can help your teenager to choose wisely. Teenager kids tend to get carried away by stunning looks or trendy cars. Don't let this happen; choose a functional automobile for them that can be driven at least till the time they graduate. 4) Give your child some tips on maintaining a car Talk to your novice car owner about auto insurance plans, taking care of a vehicle and other car tips that you may consider important. Some practical knowledge can help them drive better and can also make their vehicle last longer. 5) Warn them of consequences in case they don't abide by the rules of safe driving and car maintenance Tell him firmly that it is his responsibility to keep a check on car service schedule, to fill gas timely, and to pay insurance premiums in time. Warn them of serious consequences in case they get a traffic ticket or fail to maintain the vehicle responsibly.
