What makes one person successful in business and not another?

There are a few different answers to that question to be sure, but upon researching some of the most most successful entrepreneurs, one thing stood out:

Passion

You may be thinking, "So what?, I get it", but do you really? Do you understand the kind of passion it requires to do something great? Check out these super successful passion quotes.

Sam Walton - Founder of WalMart, says:
Commit to your business. Believe in it more than anyone does. Passion is at the top of the list of the skills you need to excel. When you have passion, you speak with conviction, act with authority and present with zeal. If you don't have an intense, burning desire for what you are doing, there's no way you'll be able to work the long, hard hours it takes to become successful.

Daymond John - Creator of FUBU, and Shark on Shark Tank, says:

Love What You Do ~ Money is only a tool; it is a great slave, but a horrible master. To really enjoy life to the fullest, nothing means anything without love. If along the way you get lost or wrapped up in the wrong things, go back to the basics and start again. “Every person that is successful has one thing in common, they are doing what they love,” said Daymond.

Mark Cuban - Dallas Mavericks owner, and Shark on Shark Tank, says:
Yelling is OK! ~ "If someone believed strongly enough in something and I was being passionate about something, I wanted them to match my level of passion," Cuban writes. "So I told people that if they thought it was the only way to get through to me, go for it!"

He does note, however, that while open communication is best at every workplace, yelling may not be.

Mark is obviously very passionate about many things.

Follow your dreams and just do it ~ You will live a much better life if you just do it and pursue your passions. Those people who spend their time working on things they love are usually the ones enjoying life the most. They are also the ones who dared to take a risk and chase their dreams.

Do What You Love ~ I saw a billboard the other day that said, “Life is too short to eat oatmeal,” I don’t know about that, but I do know that life is too short to do work that you despise. Trump said, “I don't make deals for the money. I've got enough, much more than I'll ever need. I do it, to do it.” Whatever you do, you must do it, to do it, because you will only have success doing what you love!

Steve Jobs - Apple & Pixar
“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma – which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of other’s opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”

So what does passionate mean? The online Urban Dictionary says it this way:

Passion is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind, body and soul into something as is possible.

It's a "no back door" kind of passion thing

Nothing will stop you, burning in your soul thing. It's a belief in what you are doing that others may not understand. That's ok! They don't have to understand.

Remember that scene from Close Encounters of the Third Kind, where Richard Dreyfuss, was obsessed with his mashed potatoes? It's like that!

Let's look at another word for passionate. Interestingly, the Urban dictionary describes obsession as:

A word used by the lazy to describe the dedicated.

Think about that!

We want freedom from the negative thoughts and lies that keep us stuck. Stuck in unhealthy relationships, bad jobs, stuck in our own heads, or stuck in a rut.

I have been married for almost 35 years to the same wonderful, supportive, loving - yet sometimes taxing man! He would say the same of me!

We have two fantastic kids whom we love with all our hearts and are very proud of, five super special grand kids, (I am a "Mimi", I have bragging rights) and two adorable canine adopted kids that let us live in the house with them. Not to mention saltwater fish and corals that are part of my addictive reef keeping hobby.

When I was in my early thirties I was hit hard by a condition called CFIDS, or Chronic Fatigue & Immune Dysfunction Syndrome, also known as CFS, and ME in the U.K. for Myalgic Encephalomyelitis. I was flat on my back for a year, and it took me a few years after that to return to a somewhat normal lifestyle.

A couple of years ago I was hit with a relapse of the condition while I was working full-time and going to school part-time, trying to get a degree. I spend 6 months flat on my back again, and during this time suffered from a heart attack. We aren't sure why, but I believe it was a byproduct of this condition.

Now, I have good days and not so great days, depending how "good" I am about monitoring my activities. I have a type A personality, so it's difficult for me to reign myself in sometimes!

I am determined not to let this condition define me as a person, or hold me back from realizing my dreams.

I am passionate about business and anything entrepreneurial. I believe that small businesses of all kinds are the foundation of this country. I have, in fact, owned a brick & mortar business, and am now mastering internet marketing which I can do from home, at my pace.
