What Is A Particulate Filter
Written by jenifer smith
A diesel particulate filter or (DPF) is a filter that was designed to remove soot or diesel particulate matter from the exhaust of a diesel engine vehicle. A particulate filter can remove anything from 85% of the soot with many removing nearly 100% of the soot matter. There are particulate filters available that are intended for one use only and are disposed of when the filter is full of the soot, but there are others that are designed to be used over the longer term and the soot matter is burned off using a catalyst.
Particulate filters have been used in off road vehicles since 1980 and in card since around 1985.
There are different variations of the DPF available to suit your needs. If you are currently looking for a particulate filter supplier in your local are then one of the first places to start looking is in your local newspapers and local trade directories. Both of these publications usually carry advertisements from companies promoting their services and products in the area. A local trade directory will also have a list of companies trading in the local area.
The most common filter used is made of cordierite; this is made of ceramic and acts as a support to a catalytic converter. These types of filters have a very good efficiency rate and are inexpensive to buy and use. They also have thermal properties that make them simple to package inside the vehicle.
Another great place to look for a supplier is online via the internet. Most companies have a website where they can showcase their services and products to the world. You will find on these websites all the information you need about a particulate filter. All the different prices and the different variations of the filters.
It is easy to find these companies if you go to an online search engine and type in the words 'particulate filter' it will return a list of company websites that specialise in these filters. If you are specifically looking for a local company then just add you locality to the end of the search and it will return just local companies specialising in particulate filters.
