What Is Botox And How Does It Work?
Written by Andy Flower
If you have tried the wrinkle creams and concealers and you still have lines around your eyes and the corners of your mouth, you might want to consider Botox. Some people may be hesitant to try it because they are not sure what it is or how it works. There is a common misperception that it contains bacteria. This is not true. It’s a purified protein that contains no bacteria at all. When this protein is injected, it is absorbed into the nerves that surround the injection site. This protein finds another protein called SNAP-25 and attaches itself to it. The two proteins dissolve and within about fifteen minutes, the Botox is gone. The nerves are not dead, but they are no longer sending signals to the muscles so they both just relax and there is no movement. So how does this help your wrinkles disappear? Because the muscle is relaxed, the skin starts to smooth out. Those fine lines that appear when you use your facial muscles will no longer be there.
Many people find that Botox is a great alternative to plastic surgery or face lifts. Going under the knife to get a younger appearance is much riskier and dangerous than getting injections. The injections are much more affordable than a facelift too. They last about three months and then you can go in for another injection.
If you are tired of wasting your money on eye creams and products that claim to erase wrinkles, you might want to invest in something that will give you real results.
It’s important to find a qualified technician or doctor who is trained in administering Botox injections. You can get injections at most day spas or medical spas. You may want to go online to find clinics or spas and check credentials and qualifications of the technicians. You can sometimes even find reviews from different people who have used that particular spa or clinic. You don’t want to spend the money only to have the injections poorly administered and something go wrong. If too much of the protein is injected into the wrong area, you may see some serious side effects such as drooping of the eye. That’s why finding someone who is highly qualified is so important.
If you are careful about who you go to, you should be pleased with the results of your Botox injections. You will have a more youthful appearance and will not have to hide those fine lines under heavy makeup. You can feel comfortable in your own skin.
