What is Detoxification?
Detoxification is the process of removing and eliminating toxins from your blood, tissues, interstitial fluids, and all systems of elimination and the cells of the body. The detoxification system is the most important because it will determine whether we will suffer from any disease, including cancer.
Otto Warburg won the Nobel Prize in 1929 for this theory that disease lives in an environment that is acidic and lacking oxygen (anaerobic).
We ingest and breathe in toxins every day; from the water that we drink, the food that we eat, the household chemicals and toiletries we use, the electromagnetic devices that we surround ourselves with, the pharmaceuticals that we use and the mercury amalgams that we have in our mouth.
Intestinal toxemia is the most pervasive and most common. It has the most serious consequences affecting your physical and mental well-being. These toxins are a result of putrefied intestinal bacteria in your small and large colon.
The major cause of intestinal toxemia is a high consumption of animal protein, a North American obsession. We consume twice the amount of protein as recommended by the government and four times the amount of protein as recommended by world health authorities. Besides taxing all systems of the body, animal protein is acid forming and excess protein actually washes calcium out of the bones; one of many causes contributing to osteoporosis. Other contributing factors to intestinal toxemia include constipation, late night snacking and overeating. (Your fist is the size of your stomach, if you eat more food per serving than the size of your fist, you are overeating).
Some symptoms of intestinal toxemia include fatigue, nervousness, ear, eye, nose and throat congestion, lower back pain, skin eruptions, endocrine disturbances and thoracic subluxations that do not respond to chiropractic adjustments.
There are several ways to detoxify the body. The most effective is to fast, or juice and water fast. As a nation addicted to excess, fasting to some individuals is a threat to their well- being. The great fasting experts as Airola and fasting clinics in Europe indicate that we can go forty days on water and one hundred days on juices without any danger. A seven day fast is safe for almost anyone and fourteen to twenty-one day fasts are considered by therapists very effective and safe.
World renowned fasting expert, Dr. Buchinger describes fasting as “the burning of rubbish” Autolysis, begins two or three days after a fast is started. Autolysis is the process of the body digesting its own cells. However, the body knows to selectively decompose the cells and tissues that are in excess, diseased, damaged, aged or dead.

A first podiatry appointment is far less clinical than most people expect. It typically starts with a conversation about your medical history and the specific problem you're dealing with, followed by a look at your footwear, how you stand and walk, and a hands-on assessment of the affected area.
