What is the role of Graphic Design and Videos in Digital Marketing ?
Written by SOPAC® Graphics
Graphic design is an art and a part of communication design. Nowadays, more specifically known as visual communication or communication design, graphic design is the aesthetic and professional application of visuals and typo so as to create an artwork which clearly communicates the message to its audience.
Advertising is an important marketing and communication tool which involves creation of brand identity, product promotion and brand building collateral that helps a ‘brand’ to get recognized in the market and ultimately persuade the customers in making purchase powered decisions!
The basic mantra for successful brand marketing is to create an effective, entertaining and persuasive communication. For this not just a great idea is required but it’s also imperative to shape it in a good design and provide creative visual solution. The design thus created must be a balanced usage of space, colors, typo, layout, visuals and graphic effects. Here a graphic designer plays a very crucial role. He/she could evolve to make an idea.
It is a visual driven world. “You remember the picture or any sort of image more easily, quickly and for a long time than the text”.
It is also a fact that visuals catch more attention and there is also no language barrier. It’s rightly said, ‘A picture speaks louder than words’. That’s why graphic design holds a significant role in marketing.
Let’s understand the big role it plays in marketing with a small example!
‘Can you think of a day without interaction with design at any instance?’ Design is everywhere and every time. Right from the morning coffee to the soap you use, the shirt you wear, the car you drive, the laptop you work on, the TV soap you watch to the mattress you comfort in, design is there in some or the other form!
The logo, packaging, promotion and even the product itself is a work of graphic design. And thus graphic design helps in achieving the marketing goals in the following ways.
1. Boost sales: All the companies are investing heavily on brand packaging and design. This increases the shelf value of the product. Unique designs always attract the customers and are picked first.
2. Establish brand identity: A logo is the first symbol or the universal identity of a company or the brand. When it’s repeated in every brand communication, it becomes a brand identity.
3. Build good brand image in the market: A good design wins the customers confidence and heart. The customers judge the quality of a product or services by its design. That’s why companies create new design campaigns to launch new products and highlight their qualities and features.
4. Enhance brand recall and recognition: Many a times it happens that you forget the brand name but remember its logo. Sometimes a well designed packaging, billboard or the advertising campaign does this job. A good design is the most effective tool for brand recall and recognition.
5. Convey a brand message: A design created understanding the nature and mindset of the target audience, always succeed in delivering the right message and to the right people. It’s not at all necessary to have a highly artistic or complex design but it should be designed in a way that is simple and appealing to the customers.
To sum up, graphic design is the spine of marketing communication and thus it is always better to get it done by the professionals and achieve the best results in terms of sales and growth.
