What keeps you playing small?
Written by Karyn Pettigrew
There are more than a few things that I’ve noticed can be a death knell to entrepreneurs’ growth and acceleration. I know, because I’ve walked through all of them myself. Often these limitations are related to mindset; the beliefs, ideas, perceptions we hold. These fear-based perceptions were often imprinted on us a long time ago. Do any of these sound familiar:
• I don’t have the time…
• I don’t have the team…
• I don’t have the money…
• I can’t charge what I really think my product/service is worth…
Any of these thoughts, can feed upon each other and create a feeling of overwhelm and resignation.
There’s a better way for entrepreneurs.
To begin to address mindset challenges you can:
1) Define your vision; work and home, the way you’d love it to be, not how you think it has to be to work. This means getting other people’s ideas for your life and business out of your head. Really challenge the parameters you set for yourself and see if they are authentic to you.
2) Create an EXHAUSTIVE list of your needs. What do you need to support you in creating the vision you just defined. Don’t worry about how you’ll get all of this support. Don’t worry about whether you can get it all, NOW. Just make the list. Think of things like, what you need to run your household smoothly? What do you need to be present and available to do your best work in your business? What do you need to refuel yourself?
3) Prioritize your needs based on what your heart points you to first. Be honest with yourself. There’s no one to look perfect for in this exercise. There’s no prize for getting it right. In fact, there is no “right.”
Here’s the key. The shadowy things that have been holding you back are exactly the needs you’ve been ignoring or trying to pretend don’t matter. They do. Because the things we try to ignore, only grow in power and importance. [Quick note, I say “needs” not “needy”. The vibration is completely different. “Needs” are about remaining in authentic alignment, connected to self. What you need to stay whole. “Needy” is a low vibration of dependency and separation from self. ]
