What To Do With Whiteheads
Written by Sharon Bell
Although they don’t look as awful as pimples, whiteheads can affect your appearance just the same – the reason why most people hate them.
While their real cause is unknown, whiteheads are believed to result from certain hormonal changes in the body that accompany puberty. These hormones stimulate the sebaceous or oil glands, causing them to multiply rapidly and produce too much sebum.
When sebum can no longer reach the skin surface, it clogs up the gland in such a way that greasy or cheesy plugs are formed. Aside from being unsight¬ly, these plugs or whiteheads may later be infected and leave scars when tampered with. Some undergo chemical changes and become blackheads.
As the gland stretches even more because of excess sebum, it may be irritated. To guard against this, pus is formed and a pimple forms.
Although whiteheads usually develop when there is in¬creased activity of the oil glands, they are often found on the eye¬lids, cheeks or forehead. The condition is painless and harmless but its appearance in the form of slight elevations is unattract¬ive, especially when whiteheads are numerous.
The best cure for whiteheads is cleanliness. No amount of medicine can ever replace the glow of healthy skin. Soap and water can do wonders where other expensive creams and lotions will fail. In fact, since whiteheads are caused by the overactivity of the oil glands, it’s best to avoid using cold creams and other greasy applications and cosmetics. This can only make the condition worse.
Whiteheads may be removed by a special instrument called a blackhead remover. However, overenthusiastic persons can create scars in their face because they simply remove the whitehead without first loosening the skin. To avoid problems, see a good dermatologist.
For beautiful skin use Lumnaderm, a whitening cream that eliminates freckles, unsightly age spots, sun spots, blemishes and hyperpigmentation. When used as directed, Lumnaderm will balance uneven skin tones and illuminate your skin. For more information, visit http://www.lumnaderm.com/.
