The United States Department of Veterans Affairs estimates more than 2.7 million veterans currently receive disability benefits for hearing loss or tinnitus (ringing in the ears). Hearing loss is one of the biggest issues facing our military members, causing a significant impact on their quality of life. In fact, 58% of veterans who had tinnitus were also diagnosed with anxiety and depression.

The Latest News in the 3M Earplug Lawsuit

Last July, The Department of Justice announced it had reached a $9.1 million settlement resolving claims that 3M violated the False Claims Act by selling or causing to be sold, defective 3M combat earplugs to the United States military.

The Department of Justice alleged that 3M and its predecessor, Aearo Technologies, Inc, knew since 2000 that the Dual-Ended Combat Arms Earplugs were too short to properly seal the ear canal from damaging noise, thus failing to provide appropriate noise cancellation to our service men and women.

These defective military earplugs were standard issue equipment for our troops serving in foreign conflicts for over 10 years. The 3M Dual-Ended Combat Arms Earplugs were intended to protect our military members from unsafe levels of sound from gunfire, aircraft, roadside bombs, and more. Instead, they provided our honorable men and women with a false sense of hearing protection against deafening noise.

Many of our military members now suffer from hearing loss and tinnitus; long-term side effects that can affect the everyday life of our veterans.

If you or a loved one served our country between 2003 -2015 and suffered partial or total hearing loss, impairment, and/or tinnitus you may qualify for compensation.
