Growing up in the sixties wasn’t easy for Baby Boomers. It was a time of intense chaos, and we struggled to free ourselves from the chains of mechanized society. Hoping to create better relationships, and a peaceful world, we dared to dream. Our youthful idealism was contagious. We discovered our voice, and began a movement for change. We spoke out against war, the establishment, and the destructive behavioral patterns of a patriarchal society.

As the years passed by, many of us entered the work force hoping to create new ways of living, but the responsibilities of family, and the tasks of making ends meet soon became a top priority. After a while it was clear that we bought into the old American dream of making money, and achieving the goals of cultural success. We became the establishment.

Success is about reaching the goals that society dictates as the norm. Most Baby Boomers have accomplished this. The question for all of us now is, have we been fulfilled? Is there still something left to do? Fulfillment is something that can only be defined from inside. It is meaningful because the vision comes from the soul to bring true happiness. What are you deeply longing for? What dream still needs to be fulfilled? Baby boomers have a lot of time left. It’s not too late to recover the idealism of our youth, complete the work we began in the sixties, and make a contribution to benefit the planet. Perhaps that’s why we are all still here.
