When in Puerto Rico, do not miss these 5
Written by Roger Nash
Visiting a place like Puerto Rico can leave you spoiled for choice when it comes to things to do. There are so many options available that narrowing down on something that you will really enjoy can be really difficult. If you are planning a holiday in Puerto Rico, then here are 5 things that you definitely must-do irrespective of what else you have lined up for yourself.
The first is to visit the city of Ponce. This is best known for its cultural heritage and of course for its people as well. When you are there, visit the "La Cruceta del Vigía" and the Serrallés Castle. La Cruceta is an observation point and you can look over the entire city as well as the seaside. Serallés Castle is a mansion as well as a museum and the owner family are the people behind the Don Q Rum business. You should also make a stop at "La Guancha" which is a boardwalk across the bay. Feeding the fish and pelican are a great pastime here.
The second thing on your to-do list in Puerto Rico has to be Cabo Rojo. This is located on the southweste
part of the island. The lighthouse here is something that you will definitely not want to miss. You will look down and be amazed at the vastness of nature and how small humans actually are in front of it all. There is a great beach here, which is never really crowded. The only drawback is that you have drive on a dirt road for a few miles.
On the must-do list is Casa Bacardi. This is a few minutes from San Juan. The Bacardi plant offers some great tours and you will even be given free rum to sample. There is a gift shop on the premises where you can pick up some really good gifts at reasonable prices. It is situated in a bay that looks over Old San Juan.
Do make sure that you head to Paseo de la Princesa. You can walk to this place that is just outside the protective walls of Old San Juan. Your walk will not exceed an hour and will be close to the water. The pathways themselves have an immense history to share. And finally, El Yunque which is a far cry from the beaches of Puerto Rico. This is a rainforest that is home to several rare species of ferns and animal life. There is plenty of hiking and exploring of waterfalls here as well.
