Even pilots who fly life-size choppers have to take this into consideration every single time that they want to take off. First of all, you do not want your precious toy to bump into something and come crashing to the ground never to fly again. There are some who love flying about obstacles and there is nothing wrong with this. All you have to do is make sure that you have the skill level and experience to do it. For example, flying directly towards the sun that is glaring into your eyes can present an obstacle that can lead to various mishaps.

• Safe for you to keep your attention on your flying – Believe it or not, this is not as common sense as you would think. When flying your remote control helicopter, you need a place that allows you to give all your attention to your flying. This is for your own safety and for those around you as well. For example a large park is a good place for you to fly your bird but if you are in the bikers’ path then you are bound for an accident.

• Consider the range in relation to the location – you always have to consider the range that you want to fly in. It has to be large enough for you to enjoy your flying but it has to keep you within range of radio communication as well. For example, if you are flying your remote control helicopter over a lake or roof on which you physically cannot go any closer towards it, if a wind blows it just a bit out of range then you lose your bird.
