Who can give? One who has it!!

So, one who has with Him Moksha, gives Moksha.

Moksha means the experience of freedom from sufferings. And it is Gnani, the Enlightened One, who gives Moksha to the people in this world. Let us try and understand how….
It is like if you want to experience swimming, what would you do? There are lot of books and videos, available online and in the market too, which discuss the intricacies of swimming; but just imagine, only reading the books and looking at its videos, we plunge into deep waters - what would happen?

Books and videos can never give the experience, because they have with them only ‘information’; they don’t have the ‘experience’. They may have complete information of the best experiences of swimming, but they do not have the actual experience, you see!! Only a living teacher, who has the experience to swim, can make us swim.

Likewise, there are numerous spiritual books and scriptures available, which give us very good information regarding Moksha, and even narrate experiences of people who attained Moksha. But these books are unable to give us the experience of Moksha. Only the one who Himself has experienced Moksha can give Moksha.

Through Gnani’s grace we attain Moksha!!!
We need a Living Guru (teacher) at every stage of life, be it to gain any worldly experience or the spiritual. The One who gives people, the spiritual experience, is known as Gnani. Gnani is the Enlightened One, who has realized the Self, and has the power to make people attain Self-Realization by bringing about the awareness of the real Self i.e. the Soul within them. Gnani Purush is an enlightened lamp! And an enlightened lamp alone can provide the real light (knowledge of the Self), and lighten up other lamps too.

After Self-Realization, without any effort of our own, we begin to experientially know and understand the properties of the Soul and arrive at a firm conviction that “I am Pure Soul.” All along, due to ignorance of our Self, we wrongly believed our self to be the body and thereby thought that it is ‘I’ who is suffering. But by giving us this conviction, Gnani gives us freedom from the suffering, for the Soul is a permanent element and it is made up of eternal bliss. No suffering can come to the Soul.
Therefore, this is called the first stage of moksha wherein, with the grace of Gnani, we realize ‘Who am I’ and as a result, ‘I’ separates from the suffering that exists in body, and thus experiences freedom from suffering.

Now, remaining in the satsang of Gnani, we progress on the path of Moksha by increasing the given awareness of the Soul. Gnani answers our questions and solves all problems, and under His guidance and supervision, makes us progress on the path of Moksha.

Following Gnani’s words, as we remain in more and more awareness of the Soul that ‘I am Pure Soul, I am immortal, I am eternal’, at every step, the experience of the Soul enhances; and the layers of karmas that were bound in the stage of ignorance of ‘I am so and so, I am the doer’, and which brought suffering in the body, keep shedding off; resulting in an experience of more and more bliss of the Soul. With the help of Gnani’s grace and His divine power of speech and blessings, we are able to get good results.

These results gradually lead us to a stage when our complete ignorance is gone, when all the charged karmas covering the Soul have totally shed off, when no atoms of attachment and hatred remain anymore on the Soul, and when we continuously stay in this Absolute Pure stage of the Soul. This is the second and ultimate stage of Moksha!!

Author's Bio:

Ambalal M. Patel was a civil contractor by profession. In June 1958, spontaneous Self-Realization occurred within Ambalal M. Patel. From this point on, Ambalal became a Gnani Purush, and the Lord that manifest within him became known as Dada Bhagwan. A Gnani Purush is One who has realized the Self and is able help others do the same. Param Pujya Dada Bhagwan used to go from town to town and country-to-country to give satsang (spiritual discourse) and impart the knowledge of the Self, as well as knowledge of harmonious worldly interactions to everyone who came to meet him. This spiritual science, known as Akram Vignan, is the step-less path to Self-realization
