Accidental cab expenses can go up quickly. Medical expenses for severe injuries, such as head trauma, spinal cord injury, broken limbs, and neck injuries, can cost thousands of dollars. The same injuries can result in excruciating pain and make it impossible for you to return to work, either temporarily or permanently. The good news is that if someone else caused your taxi collision, they could be legally responsible for your expenses. You can get compensation in taxi cab accidents for:
  • healthcare expenses
  • Recovery
  • therapy
  • the inability to enjoy life
  • Distress and suffering
  • psychological angst
  • lost earnings and revenue
  • Disability
  • Unfair death
Who might be responsible other than the taxi driver?Houston taxi accidents can and often do involve taxi drivers. But not all such mishaps are the taxi driver's fault. External parties may also bear a portion or all of the responsibility.
  • The company that the taxi belongs to.
If a cab driver works for a business, the business may be held responsible for the results of any accidents the driver is involved in. Remember that businesses are not liable if taxi drivers work as contract workers.Employers must use caution when selecting, educating, and managing their drivers. Management mistakes that cause an accident may make the organization liable. Taxi companies must also buy secure vehicles, examine them frequently, and take care of any safety issues. Once more, if an unsafe vehicle results in an accident, the firm may be held responsible.
  • Other drivers on the road.
Not all taxi cabs operate in a vacuum. Instead, taxis share the roadway with other cars, buses, motorbikes, and automobiles. Also required to drive carefully and safely are the operators of those vehicles. If another motorist's carelessness results in a collision involving a taxi, that motorist (and their insurance company) may be liable for the damage.
  • Pedestrians and the bicyclists around.
Cabs spend a great deal of time at and close to junctions, awaiting a fare or moving. Many accidents happen at intersections, especially those involving pedestrians and bikers. Sometimes those incidents occur due to those other parties' carelessness when crossing the street or venturing into the path of oncoming cars. They may be responsible for any harm if such is the situation.
  • Civil/ government agencies.
Cabs ride on public highways that are kept up by administrative bodies. The upkeep of safe roadways falls under the purview of those organizations. If there is an accident, the agency may be held accountable if the roadway has a flaw or is in a dangerous condition.
