Although many people seem to be abandoning family traditions, research into family histories and their display continue to be popular pastimes for many people. A crest may be one that has been linked to a family through several generations or one that is created for a family. Although a coat of arms is traditionally linked to an individual rather than a family or a clan many people view them as part of their family heritage.
