It is a replacement for CD-ROMs or floppy disk and is rewritable and removable. Pen drives have a small printed circuit board. When a user connects the pen drive with the USB port, it activates. The USB port provides information to the computer and is compatible with almost any port on a computer.

Major difference:
The one major difference between both drives is that the pen drive is used as a mobile USB storage device, but the flash drive has different uses for data storage. The pen drive is plugin directly into the USB port, while the flash drive has a direct USB connection and corded USB connection. You can even store it inside the mobile media device or cell phone.
