While I have to admit it is important for couples to have the big things in common. Having a common ground with your partner when it comes to finances, religion, and the means in which you will live your lives as a couple are crucial to the survival of your relationship. However, you also have to have your own interests, and your own lives as individuals.

You don't want to get bored with each other. For instance, say you and him go every place side by side, you hear all the jokes at the same time, you hang out with the same people, basically experiencing everything together. Now, you're home alone with him, and you have nothing to talk about. He's heard all the stories, and jokes. I mean, he was there too.

If you do everything together, in the same way, and you share everything with him at the moment it happens, what are you ever going to talk about?

If you are talking to a man that does, and thinks just like you do about everything, you will always know what he will have to say. Taking the surprises out of your relationship.

You are now your partner, and your partner is you.

Stop being polite! Don't get me wrong, you always need to respect your partner, but it's OK to let both him and you have time to do your own things. At first it may seem like you just don't want to be around each other, but it actually builds a healthier relationship. Knowing you can still be yourself, and he respects you and even loves you more for it.

It will be difficult at first, but you will thank me later. You and your man won't feel suffocated by each other, which is a major reason men opt out. However, make sure you don't take advantage of the situation.

You still need to set aside special time for just you and him to be together. And it's never OK to do things that you couldn't tell him about later. BE TRUSTWORTHY!

Respect you partner, and having your own lives as individuals will be pleasant and even healthy for your relationship.

The idea of making yourself more desirable by making yourself less available doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it. The end of Sleepless in Seattle shifts from "awww" to "aw, no" if one of the two main characters skips the trip to the Empire State Building. As these examples from fiction show, making yourself
