And today, I’m going to talk a little bit about why it’s so hard to stick to a diet or a plan to start a new business or any type of thing. We all certainly know people that have started diets and got gym memberships and not used them, and why that’s so hard and what we can do to change that.

And the thing that you will find is that we have these desires to lose weight or start a business that they’re kind of on the top of our mind and we have a lot of motivation for it, but what is actually causing us to take action on a regular basis is a much deeper thing. And that by creating your own customized spiritual practice in the Serenity Path, you’re going to simply, easily, and effectively address those underlying blockages. So that when you say "I’m going to lose weight" or "I’m going to start a business" or "I’m going to work on some paintings" or writing a book, or whatever it is that you are trying to do to create your vision of yourself and your family and your future, you will then be able to do that.

And the first part of it is having a strong foundation and that starts for many of us with taking assessment of where we're at. And then the next part for many people is creating a vision, writing down the vision. And so, by doing the techniques in the Serenity Path, which include focusing the mind and releasing the stress from the body. And what happens in so many people, they think they want to make more money or lose weight or do these things and they think that’s what’s going to bring them the happiness or bring them the serenity. And so, they start off very motivated but they’re not able to stick with it because we live in a state scientifically called homeostasis, and what that means is, I like to call it "fat, dumb, and happy". And when we’re in that state, anytime we go outside of our comfort zone, our body and our mind pulls us back. It’s uncomfortable when we get outside of our comfort zone, and we are programmed to stay we are at unless there is great pressure to change, like a tiger chasing us or we are starving.

We move a little bit to start and take action and then we get pulled back in. And so by creating your own customized spiritual practice that’s individualized you, you’re going to find something that works for you personally. You’re going to start with the quick start guide. It’s going to give you some immediate results, some immediate relief, and then you’re going to leverage that to ease into a customized path that fits you perfectly. Your perceptions will change as well, your mind will be more focused and your body will be more relaxed. And you can certainly imagine when your mind is more focused, your body is more relaxed then that is going to allow you to form a clear vision for yourself and your future and step by step take actions to achieve it.
