***Why this Forgetfulness about our Divine Origin?
Written by Gloria Excelsias and Dr Joshua David Stone
As has been said many times in Spiritual circles, “We are not humans having a Spiritual experience. We are Spiritual beings having a human experience.”
Our true identity is our God Self, our Ete
al Self, our Monad or Mighty I AM Presence – whatever term you prefer. And our God Self has inca
ated on Earth to express Divinity on Earth.
But how come everyone in this world has forgotten about their true divine identity and holy origin? Why this forgetfulness?
Sai Baba, the Hindu Avatar, said, “Love lives by giving and forgiving. Self lives by getting and forgetting.” What is meant with the “self” here is the “lower self.”
It is our identification with the lower self – with our physical body, physical appetites, base emotions and concrete mind – that makes us forget our true divinity and origin. And it is this forgetfulness and ignorance of our own divinity that makes us look at each other as separate human beings instead of one united Spiritual family.
And it is precisely this separation thinking and forgetfulness of the oneness of all life that makes us try and “get” in order to compensate for the loss of oneness and completeness that is originally ours. The need for “getting” in our society today truly comes from “forgetting” that we are one with God and everything.
The Integrated Ascended Master realizes that the key to live in this world and undo the amnesia that has overcome this world is to consciously and consistently remind ourselves of the Divinity that beats our heart. This is why in Eastern tradition there is such an emphasis on repeating the Names of God. This is indeed a great Spiritual practice to maintain our attunement with the Divine.
