Today I wanted to share a few reasons why you on why right now is the absolute best time to start an online business of your own. With 2017 nearly here, it makes for a perfect opportunity to focus your efforts on something new, while having a fresh start in the process.

Starting a business on the internet is nothing like starting a business in the offline or retail world. First off, your start-up costs are likely going to be extremely low. Just to start an offline business, you are instantly looking at thousands of dollars in costs, inventory, franchise fees, insurance, employees and monthly rental costs. Online, all you need is a domain name, hosting, content and traffic to your site -- all of which can be worked in to fit your budget.

At the same time, there is really no need to become a website designer or tech guru. Years ago this may have been the case, but now there are plenty of solutions out there to make the creation and management process extremely easy. WordPress has made it extremely easy for anyone to get started with a site of their own in minutes. One of my favorite reasons for starting an online business is that it can actually turn into so much more. For myself, this isn't just something I preach, it's something I've also experienced first hand.

With over 20 years of experience in the world of online marketing and branding, I've been able to leap from being an affiliate marketer and promoting other people products, to becoming a well-known and trusted brand of my own. This has allowed me to scale my business in size and also become an expert within my industry.

The same thing can be accomplished for yourself in your business if you should choose to do so. This is especially true in smaller business markets where you might not think it would be so important. A great example of this would be if you owned a local spa or hair salon (and had an online blog or e-commerce site where you sold health and beauty goods). Since you're already experienced and successful with your own offline business, turn that expertise into online content to help other potential business owners as well. This also works extremely well when trying to bring in new customers as well. After all, wouldn't you rather purchase from someone that's an expert at what they do, versus just buying from a website you have no personal connection with? Of, course.

The opportunities that can come with your personal branding and authority when building an online business is immense. Don't let this opportunity pass you by.
