Why You Should Start the No Contact Rule Today
Written by Clay Andrews
Breakups are about as fun as having your head bashed in on a curb. There’s no doubting that. All the jealousy, hurt feelings, resentment, and everything else just makes breaking up one of the most awful experiences you can go through in your love life.
You’ve probably at least heard of the No Contact Rule, though.
Maybe you’ve even considered trying it, but the thought of completely cutting off contact from your ex seems too frightening. Trust me, I’ve been there myself, so I can really relate to this feeling.
But, you have to understand that this is one of those times when you have to go against what your instinct is telling you and actually do the opposite.
Pulling your ex closer to you is only going to backfire and make it even harder to save your relationship. Instead, what you need to do is completely cut contact.
This gives you the time you need to heal from the break up and get your emotions under control. This is important because, whether you’re willing to admit it or not, you’re probably at least a little bit out of character these days (I know I was!).
One good reason to use the No Contact Rule is to give yourself a shot at healing without having your ex there to reopen the wounds every time you have a fight or you find out that they’re dating someone new.
But, you also want to use the No Contact Rule for them too. You see they want some space away from you and the relationship you two shared. That’s why the broke up with you. I don’t care what they said, that is the one single cause of all break ups.
Well, by backing off and giving your ex the space that they want, you are really giving them the time that they are asking for to be away from the relationship.
Don’t assume that life without you will be all rainbows and sunshine for them. They may well realize that they miss you a lot and want to try to work things out with you. You have to let them discover this for themselves though. You can’t “force” them to see this.
So try out the No Contact Rule. I know it might be frightening, but it really helped me when I was going through my break up and I think it can really help you too.

Dr. Venus Nicolino: You Have To Make Yourself Available To Find Good Relationships
The idea of making yourself more desirable by making yourself less available doesn't make a lot of sense when you think about it. After all, Juliet would have plunged a premature dagger into the heart of her romance with Romeo if she hid in her room rather than go out on her balcony. The end of Sleepless in Seattle shifts from "awww" to "aw, no" if one of the two main characters skips the trip to the Empire State Building. As these examples from fiction show, making yourself
