Winery Touring Tips Part 5

Wine is a wonderful way to compliment a dish of food, social functions or even a simple outing. If you are wine enthusiast or are just starting to get into wine, it is important that you get a chance to experience a wide variety of wineries to see what is out there. Before you and your friends get together for a winery tour, be sure to read up some of these great tips and suggestions on what to look forward to and expect while visiting the wineries.

1. Avoid leaving wines in your car. A car sitting in the open, even on a cool day, can turn into an oven inside. Naturally, if your car is sitting out with your newly purchased wines, expect them to be “cooked” up from the heat created in your car. Do your best to find a way to avoid this issue.

2. Find out from wineries how you can possibly ship your wine back. You’re likely to purchase quite a few bottles or even a case of wine from a variety of wineries, so you might actually find it much easier to simply ship the wine back. Find out if there is a local shipping place that specializes in this. Now depending on various state laws, it might not actually be possible to ship your wines. This is where your Styrofoam container should come in handy. You should be able to easily pack it and bring it home safely via car transport or even via aircraft. If traveling by plane, be sure to check with the airline you are using in order to make sure there are no rules against this.

3. One a final note. It’s important that you realize that the wines you bought while you were at the winery will most likely not taste as great as they did at the winery. It’s sad, but true. While you are out and about at a winery, you’ll be surrounded by beautiful sights and delicious smells, the pouring of wine in pristine condition that has never traveled, the atmosphere and the people all of which will make your wine taste even more special. Simply put, those conditions can’t be recreated at home. But this is exactly what makes wine tasting such a wonderful experience.
