Words we use to sabotage ourselves

How we use certain words in our daily vocabulary or in effect the order in which we use these words harm and hinder us in the ability to attain our goals and create a positive loving and happy life. Words that we use can sabotage everything we work so hard to attain. We must master to knowledge of the power of words. This is one of the main emphases of Neuro-linguistic Programming as well as the yoga sutras.

Neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) is an approach to psychotherapy and organizational change based on "a model of interpersonal communication chiefly concerned with the relationship between successful patterns of behavior and the subjective experiences (esp. patterns of thought) underlying them" and "a system of alternative therapy based on this which seeks to educate people in self-awareness and effective communication, and to change their patterns of mental and emotional behavior".

The Yoga Sutras, according to Pantanjali, it is the ability to direct the mind (our thoughts) without interruption and or distraction.

Both of these examples are in essence trying to alert us of the fact that how we use our words can and do affect your mental internal dialogue which creates your personal reality.

One word that we use very often is the word “But”. What we normally do is create a statement in your mind and the spew it through your mouth. When we use the word “but what we don’t realize is that you are creating a energetic block wall so big that even our most powerful efforts cannot allow you to break through it. If you can imagine, it is like being inside a storage garage and having the big metal door come down in front of your and lock you inside.

Many times the words we use to sabotage ourselves can be changed a bit of mindful practice. How many times do we say something similar to this; “I want to be able to earn more money and get a new job BUT I can’t get anyone to call me back.” What you did right there is stated the positive affirmation first and then bring the wall down with the word BUT when you stated the negative. Well our mind works in mysterious ways and what ends up happening is the fact that anything after the word BUT is what the mind attaches itself to and this then become our underlying thought that gets stored in our subconscious and it creates a belief that we buy into and thereby creating our reality inadvertently.

What we need to do is think about what we are about to say and if you insist on using the word but then restructure your sentences to restructure the power of the mind to create your new reality. For instance say instead “ I can’t get anyone to call me back BUT I want to get a new job and make more money.”

So what I am telling you is that just as we use words that can and do sabotage our goals, dreams and aspirations, so too can we begin to be more mindful and use words that can create positive opportunities, thoughts and beliefs that can bring harmony and ease into your life. Know that the power of words crate our thoughts and our thoughts create your belief and your beliefs create your reality.
