Many people who work out, especially in the area of bodybuilding, end up dealing with stretch marks. These stretch marks usually are created by fast muscle growth, which damages the skin over the muscles due to overstretching. Sure, the stretch marks do show that you've worked out hard, but more than likely you'd like to get rid of these stretch marks. You'll find that stretch marks are very common to people who bulk up fast. Whether you pack on the pounds of fat or muscles, both can lead to stretch marks. Most bodybuilders end up getting stretch marks on their arms and upper chest area, due to developing the muscles there quickly.

So, you may be wondering, what are stretch marks? Well, they are the red or purple looking scars that show up when your tissue under the skin grows too fast and the skin actually tears at the site. Now you may be wondering how you can get rid of these stretch marks. Well, of course prevention is the best thing to do, but when you're a body builder, you can pretty much guarantee that you'll get some stretch marks around the way. So, here are a few great tips that will help you reduce and treat your stretch marks.

Tip 1 Eat a Great Diet It is very important that you eat a diet that is well balanced. You may also want to go with a multi vitamin and mineral as well. You see, it is so important that you get the vitamins and minerals that you need to keep your skin as healthy as possible.

Tip 2 Use Lotion with Vitamin E Using a lotion that has a lot of Vitamin E in it can be especially helpful on the skin that is affected by stretch marks. The Vitamin E can really help with the healing process, so you'll want to use it on a daily basis.

Tip 3 Cover with Suntan Lotion If you are worried about your stretch marks and having other people see them, you may want to consider covering up your stretch marks with a suntan lotion. While a real tan is not good for your skin, a fake tan that you can get with suntan lotion can really help to hide those stretch marks, so consider using it.

Tip 4 Avoiding Bulking Up Too Much Some bodybuilders end up building up too much. You see, sometimes bulking up includes putting on fat, and remember, when you add fat and increase your muscles, you can really stretch out your skin. So, don't overdo the bulking up.

Tip 5 Build Slowly Many bodybuilders try to see how ripped they can get as soon as possible, and this is what can cause the stretch marks to appear quickly. So, if you want to avoid the stretch marks, consider going with a workout that will build you up a bit more slowly.
