Luxor is known for its rich history. There are numerous sites that allows you to explore rich history of the region.
If you are interested in exploring the Egyptian history, Cairo is considered as the best place. However, this is not the only place to peep into the rich Egyptian past; you can plan holidays to Luxor as well. The city is home to some of the most prominent historical attractions in the country.
Luxor is home to number of temples. While visiting these temples, you get an opportunity to know about the religious streak of those times. One of the most prominent temples in the city is Luxor Temple. Large number of people plan cheap Luxor holidays especially to visit this temple. According to experts, this is the oldest temple in the city. It is known for its odd structure and surrounding Egyptian architectural structures. Remesses II is one of the surrounding structures. If you want to explore fine carvings, visit structure of Hatshepsut. The inner courts of the temple features Christian Roman image that depict the presence of Christianity during Egyptian era.
Another temple that creates an urge in tourists to spend cheap holidays in Luxor is Karnak Temple. This is not one temple but a complex with numerous temples. While strolling around, you would come across several folds of history blended at one places. You can explore the past of different time periods. These temples were built to worship several deities. But the most of these temples are dedicated to Amon or Amun. He was the greatest god for people lived in middle and new kingdom. Amon literally means ‘the hidden one.’ Karnak Temple was once connected to Luxor Temple through a canal.
Valley of the Queens is the historical site which is being ignored by several tourists despite carries great importance. While visiting this site, you would come across number of paintings on the walls. These paintings depict that women were underestimated during those times. Best example is Hatshepsut. In most of the paintings, women hold the shortest stick. Just few steps away, you would find Valley of the Kings which is more popular than the Valley of the Queens. This is a must visit site, if you are planning cheap holidays to Luxor especially to peep into the rich Egyptian past. Take a walk through the Valley of the Kings and admire the paintings on the walls that were created thousands of years ago. You would come across much detailed paintings that that of the Valley of the Queens.
