Written by Denial loyn
Windows XP has been an undisputed champion among computer’s Operating System, since it was released in August 24, 2001. However, its aged old legacy is facing threats with the popularity of Windows 7.
Last month’s Operating System stat shows a straight inclination in number of Windows 7 users. Currently, 37% of users are grabbed by Windows 7, which shows an increment of 1% compared to previous month. However, Windows XP seems to have failed in capturing the interest of other users, but there are still some dedicated and loyal users, who still prefer to use Windows XP.
Windows XP, a successor of Windows 2000 and Windows me, stands for Windows eXperience. It is ranked second most popular operating system, on the basis of installed users. Despite its loyal users, last month’s estimation shows a straight fall in the number of Windows XP users. The user’s data base of Windows XP has fallen from 47% in January to 45% in the month of February. This pattern has shown a gradual decline in the number of Windows XP users.
Earlier, in February Windows XP had captured almost half of the market place with 47% share, while Windows 7 had shared only 24%. But, according to recent estimation, there’s a straight growth in the number of Windows 7 users and decline in Windows XP.
Over the past one year, Windows 7 has experienced a great demand in market, while Windows Vista which was released prior to Windows 7, fails to capture the attention of users. It only shares about 8% of users in market.
The makers of Windows operating system, Microsoft has been continuously reminding their customers and companies that, the support for Windows XP will run out in 2014. They have even advice their customers not to wait for any other Operating system and move for Windows 7, leaving behind Windows XP.
Recently, Microsoft has unveiled the new operating system, Windows 8. Despite their efforts in creating a new operating system, Microsoft has advice the users of Windows XP to go for Windows 7.
According to NetApplication’s repot, Windows 8 Developer Preview, which was launched in September, accounts only 0.3% of market till February. It would be interesting to see how much market share Windows 8 Developer Preview can capture in March. Let just wait until any new reports come from the analysts and researchers.
