Yoga for Kids: Ensuring Sound Development to the Toddlers

“Kids are like seeds which we have planted; we have to nourish them so that they grow to be healthy, strong and loving people”. Food, cloth and shelter are considered as the three basic need of a person to live. Apart from these three basic needs, another important thing that plays a vital role in our developmental process is the physical exercise. Physical exercise helps us to be strong, both physically and mentally. Research proved that yoga is one of the most beneficial physical exercises for every age group. In yoga, we do freehand exercise which is the basic way of doing any physical activity. Yoga is basically developed in the ancient India. The great saints of the ancient India used to practice yoga to maintain a good health and that also increased their life span. In the Upanishad also, the mentioning of this ancient physical exercise is there. Yoga was also considered to be a path that leads to the spiritual growth. The word ‘Yoga’ is derived from the word ‘Yogi’, means a devotee who has devoted the life for a noble cause.
Even in this 21st century, yoga has been adopted by the world as a way of maintaining a good health.

In modern day schools there are special classes for the kids to practice yoga. There are particular instructors that schools have for helping the kids to exercise this ancient art form. But while you introduce the kids to this form of exercise, you need to consider their age first. There are age appropriate yoga that is meant for kids, middle aged person and old people. The multi faced benefits that yoga offers to kids are briefly discussed below:-

1-Hastens Physical Development- When kids do this physical exercise, their fine and gross motor skills get developed. There are particular moves in this ancient art forms that let our large and small body muscles to work

2-Gives Mental Stability- Researchers found that yoga calms down our senses and helps us to concentrate on thing more easily. While doing this particular exercise, our body and mind gets relaxed. We have to focus properly while exercising it

3-Stress Reliever- Yoga is a great stress reliever. In this fast paced world, kids often don’t get time to take the pleasure of the natural world. This results in increasing pressure on them. The basic need of yoga is to exercise it in an open space, very close to the nature. During the sessions, out body get a chance to absorb sunlight and natural air which is vital to the development of every individual

4-Enhances Focus and Concentration- It improves the concentration power of kids. Regular practicing it helps the kids to sleep better, that result in improved mental clarity and focus. It is proved to be very fruitful for kids who are suffering from ADHD

When choosing a yoga class for your school-aged child, find a class that emphasizes good health and stress relief over perfect posture or technique. Look for instructors with experience or training in children's yoga instruction.
