Okay you read the heading, so what in God’s name am I talking about you won’t lose weight. At the end of the day, the most common goal of clients that I see, and gym-goers for the most part, it’s losing weight. However, majority of those that seek weight loss in their program will not lose weight. What could be the reasons for this? Let’s take a look.
One major reason gym-goers have a hard time losing weight is the lack of detail. Now what do I mean lack of detail? What I am talking about, is not detailing what you are putting in your mouth. The clients that I see that are the most successful losing weight are detail-oriented and keep a food journal. They write down everything that crosses their mouth on a daily basis and have an idea at the end of the day how many calories they take in. I know you thing you know what you’re taking and you eat healthy right? Wrong. If you’re serious about losing weight keep a food journal. Next up is time. Listen, if you are looking to lose weight and have it be body fat and not just water, you’re going to have to put the time in. Chances are you didn’t gain that weight overnight, and it’s not going to come off overnight. Get your workouts in week after week month after month and you will get there. However you need to be consistent and you need to make sure that each week you get your workouts in. Too many times people will have a good week one week, and a bad week the next. Your body needs consistency.
Stop eating carbs. Wow did Eric really just say stop eating carbs? The answer is yes, but I’m not talking about all together. If you’re looking to eat some carbs prior to your workout or after your workout I’m a big fan. However if you don’t require the energy, and you don’t require the post-workout nutrition, stay away from the carbs. If you’re laying on the couch watching TV you don’t need carbohydrate. If your day is through and you’re just going to be going to bed you don’t need carbohydrate. Eat carbohydrates, but only eat them when you need the energy source.
Finally, put in the work. I don’t know where we have lost our way in our society, but everybody wants everything fast and they want it easy. Well, you can’t buy a good body, and you are not going to get one quickly. So put in the work and the time and you’ll receive the results you’re looking for. However, it’s not going to happen overnight, and it may not happen as fast as you want, but I promise you if you do what I detailed above you will get the results you seek.
As Bugs Bunny once said, that’s all folks.
