Clinical trials are based on free will but those who choose to take part in them are paid for volunteering as well. The payments for the clinical trials vary greatly from one medical study to another and they will also depend on their length. This is because whereas some of the medical trials take a few days to complete, some will go for months and they can therefore not compare when it comes to payment.

Contrary to what most people think, the clinical trials are not paid on the basis of the risks that they could hold and therefore the payments are only done as appreciation since sometimes the individual taking part in them has to put everything else aside to participate. It is also an affair that calls for expenses since the individual will sometimes be forced to make regular outpatients visits for the monitoring of the drugs. The time commitment and also the expenses are catered for by the payments and they are therefore very relevant in the trials.

People have managed to earn a lot of money from the trials. In most cases, the money is sent through a bank cheque which will take around seven or ten days after the last study visit. However, since some expenses are inevitable, the volunteers receive some money to help them travel to and from the clinics for the regular screening visits. This makes it possible for them to keep to their schedules thereby adding value to the clinical trials. The money you receive will depend on how far you live from the research clinic or unit.

Clinical trials are of great importance which is why volunteering is encouraged. The biotechnology and pharmaceuticals companies would be paralyzed in finding better treatments for the various diseases and conditions without the volunteers. They are made up of healthy and sick individuals since the trials are of different types with each being based on issues related with the drug which needs to be observed on the individuals.

Even though the amount of money one is bound to be received for the clinical trials can drive many people into taking part, the main purpose should be to help in finding treatments for the suffering. It is also important for each individual to consider all aspects of the clinical trial to ensure that he knows what to expect and also the risks that could come attached to the trials.
