Back in the old days, people got all of their news from newspapers, television news programs, and the radio. There were a few problems with these traditional news sources however. For example, by the time people got their newspapers, the headlines were often already outdated and old news. Another problem was that the news we got was limited in perspective because only a select few people were hired to become journalists or reporters. With the advent of the internet though, all of this has changed, for the better, I think. We no longer have to wait for out newspapers to be printed and delivered and anybody, literally anybody, can start a political blog online. What this means to us, the readers, in a nutshell, is that we get our news a lot faster now and we can explore a multitude of varying perspectives and opinions when we sit down to read on our political news sites. Even traditional sources like newspapers and television networks can access and report the news in a matter of moments rather than days or weeks. How many of these traditional political news sites advertise with phrases such as “moment by moment coverage” or “the news at your fingertips”? This is merely a reflection of the revolution in news coverage that has been brought to us by the internet.

While this accessibility and super fast news is incredibly exciting, it also means we need to be more careful when we read on any of these political blogs. Just because any Tom, Dick, Harry, or Sue can publish political blogs does not mean that these blogs are researched and presenting just the facts of the situation for us to contemplate. These political “news” sites could just as easily be spreading rumors that are not based in any facts whatsoever, or they could just be hate-mongering because their writers do not approve of our current leaders and their decisions. The truth is though that if we find the same or similar stories on all of these political blogs, we will have a good idea of what is actually happening around us, what the big news is, so to speak. From there, we can streamline our research to get more detailed results if we think it is necessary. Still, the various choices available to us for political news sites are quite enticing!

Whether you prefer Republican blogs or nonpartisan blogs or any other party-affiliated blogs, the important thing is that we have a lot more information at our fingertips in this digital age and, we can use that information to make more informed and responsible voting decisions when the elections roll around. If we know what is going on in our world and we seek an informed perspective, we have incredibly greater chances of making our great nation work the way it was meant to! So, get out there and read, read, read on as many political blogs and political news sites as you can find!
