At some point in our lives, all of us come to ask ourselves some deep questions, such as: What is the meaning of Life? What is Love? Why do people watch Reality TV? If I say the word “investment”, what comes up for you? For some, it brings images of property, money, men or women in suits or graphs. For others, it could be words such as risk, loss & gain, strategy, growth or numbers.

You know the all too common question in job applications and at job interviews: “Do you like to work on your own or as part of a team?” This is one of the questions that most people now know what to answer to please the interviewers and maybe score a few points. You say that you "like” both and “strive” in both environments! Of course. However, when you run your own business, and from home, you are very likely to be working on your own the vast majority of the time. What’s your real preference?

Think drug dealers, or spammers, for example. To some extent, I actually admire these guys' skills. Spammers have been impressing me with their ingenuity, time after time. Imagine what good they could do with such creativity!!

How many times in your life have you said you were going to do something, and then not done it? Too many to count, like 99% of people I guess. Our word to ourselves somehow comes cheap, the cheapest of all words that we give. Why? Because noone else would know the difference. What if someone knew the difference? What if someone important to you, knew the difference?

During one of the interviews I made for my book Passion Pays: how to make a living from your passions... and change the world too, Rick Mathews, songwriter in L.A. made a statement about his industry: you get 95% rejection. It made me think that all other people I had interviewed made the same point, albeit in their own way. If you are also in professional services, self-employed, or merely working towards a vision, you will understand that you are in the rejection industry (it's all a game!).
There are 5 basic reasons why people buy (and don't or won’t buy). Once you know these reasons, you can make sure to master the right information about your product or service to serve better those people who would get great value from it (even if they don't know it!) For any purchase, people will buy for any one or more of the reasons below: 1. Desire - They have a desire to own the product or receive the service E.g. ever gone to a supermarket or candy store with a kid? Hmm.. yes, you know what I mean; that’s desire at its peak!r
“How can I manage my business with confidence?” is a question clients ask time and time again. You know I love quotes so here are 3 great ones I chose to start off this post and set the tone of what it takes: 1) “To be conscious that you are ignorant is a great step to knowledge.” – Benjamin Disraeli 2) “Knowledge is of two kinds. We know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information on it.” – Samuel Johnson
You know that practice makes perfect, right? Or if it doesn't make perfect, it does make habit. Get used to thinking on your feet with these two simple tips to work on your talk improvisation skills: 1. AT HOME Write different topics on small pieces of paper and put them in a small box or bag. The topics could be everything and anything, from puppies to politics, parents to patents, shoe laces to shopping. Now, blindly pick a topic out of the box or bag. Read the topic and talk about it -out loud- for a couple of minute. Just say whatever comes to your mind about that topic.
Some "trivial" things people say stick to your mind like metal to a magnet. My sister just had her second baby and I had the pleasure (or misfortune, whichever way you wanna look at it) to be there during the whole process. Of course, the baby is adorable and I even shed a few tears when I first saw her. They were mainly tears of wonder (not just sheer relief from having my hands squeezed like a dry lemon every 2 minutes all night).

According to a Stanford Research Institute study, success is 88 percent attitude and 12 percent education. It's not hard to believe; especially when you consider the opposite. Have you ever been convinced, persuaded, impressed or even trusted someone who shows up sometimes and does things half-heartedly? No. Wouldn't you love for them to clean up their act, pull themselves together, say what they mean and mean what they say? Yes. So, you can't expect people to employ you (or keep you), follow you or buy from you if that's your attitude.
