Strange Reluctance This article explores the serious subject of our species strange reluctance to wake up and become aware of the world as it truly is. The purpose of course is always the achievement of greater awareness and a higher level of consciousness conce ing the true nature of reality. And along the way we look at the different ways in which we attempt to avoid not only our responsibiltity for the condition of our world, but the realization of the condition itself. Medication Medication of course represents the material world.
Is It Real? We explore the frontiers of land, sea, space, the relative universe and the quantum universe, but only a relative few ever think of exploring the mind, and many of them are limited by a specific agenda. Why do we not expend large amounts of resources to explore the most important territory, the mind? Are we afraid? And if so, what are we afraid of? Are we afraid of what we might find if we go to the world within and search for the truths that may await us there? What if we discovered that most of what we have always thought was real, is not real?
Reality? What Reality? Meditation can be a double edged tool. It can reveal the nature of actual reality, but in doing so it also reveals many other states of consciousness that we experience as real but are not usually aware of their true nature, depending on our present level of awareness.
The Unruly Mind Learning how to free ourselves from the tyranny of the unruly mind is not easy. Most of us have been the victims of the chaos of our own mind for so long that we don't even recognize that there is a need to do anything about it. What problem? Yet in a very real sense we are slaves to an endless dance of impulsive reaction to the thoughts generated by our mind and the emotions that those thoughts initiate.
The Origins Of Concepts Most of us use the terms success and happiness without having a clue what they really are and where they come from. We talk about them as if they are a condition or commodity that we can purchase or trade. We think they come from material wealth, satisfying relationships, all things that produce pleasure, other people and of course things. But are success and happiness even real? Have any of us ever been successful and happy all the time? Is that even possible? Just what are these things we call success and happiness and do we have any control over them?
Personal Responsibility Or Personal Gratification
The Nature Of Power The idea that the source and foundation of all things is energy, is not new. Even the idea that objects of reality are basically varying vibrations of energy is not new. But without the idea, does anything exist? And if ideas are created from thought and thought is an expression of mind, then mind is the doorway to the knowledge of power. Mind is not the source of our power, our power comes from the awareness and understanding of spiritual energy. The mind can and should be managed and monitored by our spiritual selves.
Stress Anxiety And The Price We May Be Paying It is critical for us to understand the relationship between the natural condition of stress and the unnatural condition of anxiety and how we manage them, because of the unseen price we pay. So many of us have accepted this situation as nothing more than a neccessary annoyance that comes with modern civilization. But what is the real price we pay for this? More and more we are hearing about physical illnesses that are the result of stress and anxiety, but we don't seem to really connect the dots.
The No Win Scenario Weight control and management, or any other problematic behavior pattern that adversely affect our lives, are sometimes difficult to overcome because they not only have established themselves over time and through the extremely powerful effects of conditioning, but also because of the absence of other behaviors such as self discipline. This places us in a catch 22 type situation where we want and need to achieve a certain objective, in this case weight control, but may not have fully developed the success characteristics necessary to get the job done.
