For as long as I can remember, I was an athlete; I played multiple sports and lifted weights.
As a kid and through college, basketball and baseball were my best sports. Those were later replaced with softball and racquetball, which I played 5-7 days a week, including weekend tournaments.
But at no time do I remember having any concern with nutrition or long-term health. I ate whatever I wanted and as much as I wanted, without ever gaining weight.
This all changed in my late 30s. I was married, with 2 children and 2 businesses - I stopped making time for working out, and my nutrition caught up with me, as I continued to gain weight and belly fat.
And then in 2008, at the age of 56, I found myself 50 pounds overweight and still doing no kind of consistent exercise or workout program.
The result of this became an emergency trip to the hospital, where he was diagnosed with atrial fibrillation and 2 arteries that were over 30% blocked.
Statistics may show that the average lifespan is increasing, but so is the number of health problems with an associated decline in the quality of life.
This health scare, along with thoughts of living longer but being less healthy, was the necessary wake-up call to do a complete about face. It was time to begin studying and pursuing expertise in nutritional health and fitness.
This was successfully done, and I am now in the best condition that I have been in my adult life. And if you combine good nutrition with fitness, I have never been in better condition.
My website, Natural Nutritional Health, was set up to discuss my transition and the fantastic health benefits from a nutritional health and fitness lifestyle.
