As more and more women are having their first child over the age of 40, a new set of considerations is evolving.  Women need an experienced viewpoint to help them think through their situation and even build a plan to move forward.  With a unique blend of experience including a career as a Vice President at Fortune 100 corporations; an advanced degree in physiology and personal experience in having her first child at the age of 45; Deborah brings a wealth of expertise to women and couples considering having a child over age 40.  Some of the areas on which we provide specialty consultation include:

• Career:  We can help you develop your "baby and career plan" which will help you prepare for the potential career impacts of starting a family after age 40.  Because she has held executive positions in several large corporations, Deborah can offer you an insiders perspective on what your boss and your company may be thinking. There are many things you should be doing in order to be thoroughly prepared before you approach your employer.    We can help you sort through a multitude of questions including:  How will a baby impact my career?  What is the smartest way to prepare myself from a business perspective?  What is my employer obligated to do for me? What is the best way to approach my boss?
• Single motherhood.  Many women find themselves in the position of having to choose single motherhood or risk never having a baby.  Deborah faced this situation and can help you think through what having a baby as a single mother may be like.  Because she lived through the process of testing, infertility, surgery and selecting a sperm donor, she can help you think through your unique situation and provide key learnings, considerations and, in some cases, even resources which may help make the process smoother and less stressful for you. 
• Fertility and Infertility.  What might you expect as you begin the process of trying to conceive?  How is it different for women over 40 and what can you do to help yourself during the process?  Learn about how to prepare for your doctor's visits and medical procedures intellectually and emotionally.
• Daily Life after Your Baby. Life is different for any family after the birth of a baby, but especially if you have your first child over age 40.   Take advantage of the learnings of a mom who has been through it.

More women today are having babies over the age of 40 than ever before.  The CDC reports that over 40 pregnancies increased at a faster rate than any other age category.  The risks are higher, miscarriages more frequent, and rates of fertility are lower for women over 40, but pregnancy over 40 is a reality for thousands of women every year.
