Jan Loomis has been a nationally certified massage therapist since 2000. Her background in figure sculpture gave her an incredible sensitivity in her hands. Jan Loomis Now instead of molding hard clay into a person, she releases tight and painful muscles, gently allowing each person's body to relax and soften. Jan also does myofascial work as taught by Sharon Weiselfish-Giammatteo. It is very gentle work that allows clients' innate body wisdom to govern the session. Nothing is forced, everything is allowed. This work is extremely powerful but amazingly gentle, and it will leave you in awe of the healing power of your body.
Jan has worked as an Upledger Teaching Assistant for Craniosacral Therapy levels I and II. She does cranial sacral therapy, somato emotional release, reiki, myofascial release, hot stones, and lymph drainage for immune system support. She has studied with the Upledger Institute, Connecticut Center for Massage Therapy, Connecticut Center for Human Growth and Development, and is currently a master's level student in Marriage and Family Therapy at SCSU. Jan's belief is that we are so much more than the sum of our parts.
I specialize in light, gentle touch that goes deeply into the tissue to help you get in touch with your inner wisdom and heal yourself.
Your heart speaks the language of your authentic self. Learn to re-source it and discover the beauty of who you truly are. I can help.
I have been studying how to work with pain all my life. I learned that I needed a lot of answers to why people hurt.
As a massage therapist I discovered early on that I didn't need to push my elbows into someone's tissue to get it to release. My hands are incredibly sensitive and can generally detect where they need to work. Working on many levels, I can then facilitate the release of energetic blockages,i.e. pain. Together with my client, we process what is necessary to heal the pain. Occasionally it takes a while to peel back the layers of discomfort to arrive back at the source. The result is generally diminishment of, or release from pain, increased awareness and freedom of motion.
My quest has resulted in work that is very intuitive, feather light, yet highly effective. Incorporating the very gentle touch of myofascial release with the skills of a body-centered therapist, I can guide you to do what is helpful to heal by teaching you to re-source yourself.
