Composer/pianist Kate Moody has been studying spiritual philosophy and practicing meditation since 1995, with formal studies at the Movement Center (Portland, Oregon) from 1997. Her draw to meditation grew out of the sense of musical energy coming through her and the need to clear any blocks that might be holding it back. A lucky byproduct of being a spiritually-inspired composer is an innate understanding of the nature of vibration, which is the basis of the healing visualizations, Connect the Dots, Brain Glow and Being Glow, which are taught at the Music and Meditation Workshops. The music deepens and enhances the meditations; the meditations enhance the reception of the beauty and healing qualities of the music.
The Connect and Glow meditative exercises quickly bring participants to a deep connection with their inner source of vibrant emotional well-being. The exercises are inspired by ancient Eastern wisdom and modern quantum physics, and grew out of experiments with visualizing the energetic stimulation of the limbic center of the brain in an effort to heal depression.
The Connect and Glow exercises are an easy and direct way to relieve stress. They are effective and helpful for anyone who seeks a simple yet meaningful way to find more inner peace and stability, for anyone who wishes to be more comfortable and effective in their personal lives, and in the world.
Kate’s recent CD releases include The Seeker, an album of orchestral music, named Best Instrumental Album at the 2004 Just Plain Folks Music Awards, and Welcome to Piania, a musical journey of evocative solo piano pieces. The Seeker is a symphony in four movements: Wake-up Call, River of Love, Angels & Eskimos, and Shining Through. The CD, recorded at Capitol Studios, also features George Doering on Fantasy for Electric Guitar & Orchestra. Kate’s most recent solo piano CD, inscapes, was released in October, 2007. She wrote and performed the soundtrack for the Prenatal Yoga Instructional DVD Series from Rudra Press.
Moody performs solo and ensemble concerts throughout the country and also presents workshops of Music and Meditation where she teaches he Connect & Glow meditative visualizations for healing and well-being.
Moody teaches piano and composition at Creative School of Musical Arts in Portland, Oregon. She presents workshops for teachers about teaching composition and notation to beginning music students, a method which helps develop creative skills and makes music theory relevant. She also directs “Create Your Own Musical” workshops for children.
