At the tender age of 15, Lois experienced a sudden awakening. She became determined to overcome the intense pain and self-consciousness she was feeling, and be the kind of person who could maintain healthy, loving relationships and make a difference in the world.
By the age of 20, she was vigorously involved in practices, activities and counseling designed for personal growth, health, and spiritual development. These included: Conscious Breathwork; Firewalking; Rolfing; Polarity Therapy; A Course In Miracles; Reiki; Body-centered Psychotherapy; Imago Couples Therapy; EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques); Reverse Therapy and more.
By the age of 40, Lois realized her original goal and was leading a healthy, prosperous and joyful life filled with healthy relationships. She now experiences great pleasure in supporting those who truly intend to eliminate stress, build inner strength and create meaningful, joyful lives for themselves. She does this by accepting them unconditionally, while helping to identify self-limiting beliefs in their "personal operating system" and and replacing them with beliefs that support their deepest truths and unique mission.
Working primarily with the PowerTools™ of Transformational Breathing, Emotional Freedom Techniques™ (EFT), Psych-K™, Reverse Therapy™, Laughter Yoga, Body-Centered Therapy and Affirmative Prayer, Lois maintains a private practice in East Hartford, CT.
A naturally-gifted, authentic and engaging speaker, she loves to give seminars, workshops, and trainings at government agencies, schools, corporations, churches, hospitals and community service organizations, featuring a variety of health and stress-related topics. She also travels internationally hosting annual retreats and holistic conference cruises in the Caribbean.
While training for Transformational Breathwork™ certification in 1998, Lois capitalized, researched, edited and published Dr. Judith Kravitz’book, Breathe Deep, Laugh Loudly; The Joy of Transformational Breathing.
Extensive Training in Breathwork
Lois attended her first Rebirthing weekend workshop in 1981. Astonished by the benefits, she began exploring various Conscious Breathing methods, learning from teachers and mentors including:
Other valuable experiences...
Lois has been engaged in various aspects of business and politics since 1981, when she began her career as one of few automobile saleswomen at the time. Over the next 20 years, she acquired extensive experience in marketing, advertising, sales, copywriting, publishing and Real Estate. Her natural talent for writing, editing and graphic design were key in publishing a book and two health-oriented newsmagazines: Horizons Magazine of Farmington, CT, and later The Self-Health Networker.
As an official candidate for US Senate in 1998, Lois also managed the campaign for other candidates on the “Term Limits Party" ticket. She has since spent many hours circulating official petitions, and co-managed petition drive campaigns in Massachusetts, Utah and Connecticut.

Transform Your Life...
Personally & Professionally
OxyGenesis Institute's Personal & Professional Training in
Transformative BreathworkTM and Emotional Freedom Techniques
There is, perhaps, no more satisfying career than to assist others in reclaiming their Divine Inner Presence, and the inherent power to create the life they really want to live! Of course, doing so is only possible when you have claimed yours! This program is a rare opportunity to do just that! Shred the old fear-based rule book and align yourself with timeless spiritual principles that really work. Fall in love with who you really are underneath it all. And if it feels right for you, learn how to make a truly fulfilling living, guiding others to do the same!
Over the course of 10 to 18* months, the OxyGenesis Institute’s 1st Annual Training Program, “Transform Your Life; Personally & Professionally,” will first provide intensive personal transformation, followed by practitioner training, and finally a professional internship. Participants do not have to be on the professional practitioner track to attend, and the program is available on a pay-as-you-go basis.
Even if you’ve been through years of therapy and/or have been practicing a variety of healing modalities, this training will expand your world of possibilities dramatically. All the wisdom you have acquired on the conscious level will become integrated into your subconscious mind as we release suppressed emotions and update what we call your “personal operating system” to support current goals and values.
Being a joyful person -- and a successful healing practitioner -- requires authenticity, vulnerability, and a sense of ease in loving (instead of judging) yourself and others. Together, Transformational Breathwork™ and Emotional Freedom Techniques provide state-of-the-art tools that empower us to achieve this state of being.
Breathwork is a direct doorway between the conscious and subconscious aspects of our minds. It allows us to clear the negative emotional charge of unresolved trauma and painful experiences from childhood, which formed the foundation of the personal operating system. Unless we change the breathing patterns which support that old, outdated system of beliefs and emotional reactions, we’re stuck with it. EFT also expedites this process, and is more accessible to some clients early on in their healing process.
“Thank you for helping me learn how to just be. Thank you for helping me put myself aside to receive God, and embrace the God in me at the same time. I feel like I've already made tremendous breakthroughs in self acceptance and expression. You probably already know this, but your work really does awaken souls :)"
~ Jonathan, after 2nd private session
Program Overview
The Initial Training Program consists of six, 6-week modules, which take place over the course of 10 months.
Modules 1 -3 will focus on Personal Training. We'll transform inefficient patterns of breathing, thinking, communicating and behaving into effective and joyful ways of being. You will also master the skills needed to facilitate your own Transformational Breathwork and EFT sessions for further personal development throughout your lifetime. Each module, includes a weekend intensive workshop, one Private Session with Lois Grasso, plus two subsequent online Video Conferences with all participants, spaced two weeks apart.
Modules 4 - 6 will take you deeper into the experience of yourself as a powerful and compassionate creator, while giving you the skills, knowledge, and confidence to effectively facilitate therapeutic sessions. In addition to setting yourself free and raising your vibration to easily access joy, you will learn how to facilitate others in doing so. While the personal growth continues and your Divine Inner Presence permeates more of your reality, your ability to be a clear channel for unconditional love will expand as well. This is what it takes to truly guide and support others in their own deep healing process.
“Before today, I did not even think there was a God. But after this [my first group breath session with Lois], I know God.” ~ Bojin, Boston, MA
In addition, our focus will gradually shift toward developing the skills and understanding necessary to meet clients where they are, communicate in terms they’ll understand, and bring them along gently and efficiently to their own authentic experience of Self-empowerment and Joy.
Graduates will also have a strong understanding & experience of how nutrition, exercise and personal care contribute to spiritual and emotional well-being, and vice versa. Most important, graduates will enjoy greater access to joy and be actively embracing thoughts, words and actions that help manifest their authentic joyful mission on Earth.
Modules 4-6 include slightly longer weekend intensive workshops every six weeks, a Saturday workshop scheduled midway between weekends, plus two one-hour online Video Conferences with all participants visible and audible on your computer in real time.
Finally, during a period of Professional Internship, serious practitioner candidates will review and reinforce much of the material covered in the Initial Training, while acquiring sufficient hands-on experience to satisfy certification requirements. Most importantly, they will feel fully qualified as a Professional Practitioner of Transformative Breathwork and/or Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).
Tuition for modules 1 - 6 ranges between $2777 and $3150 depending on payment arrangements. Program is available in Hartford, CT area as well as in New York City. Hartford Area program begins in Meriden, CT on October 30, 2009

Why is air just like good sex?
The only time you think about it, is when you’re not getting any! Funny, but true! Most people hardly ever think about their breathing. So when I recommend Transformational Breath therapy, they’re expecting something like a sales pitch for Tic-Tacs or Altoids. Admittedly, it does help with “bad breath”, because it does help your body eliminate toxins, bacteria and waste that can cause bad breath. But Transformational Breathing goes much deeper than that.
Transformational Breathing is all about improving your breathing processes. Why would you want to do that? Because you can improve nearly every aspect of your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being by doing so!
Now, most people think I’m out of my mind when I say that, and that’s okay. Because being “out-of-your-mind” is highly under-rated. Being "in your body" is truly where it's at. But I’m jumping ahead here.
The fact is, most people are starving their cells of oxygen, which is their “daily bread and butter”. That’s right, while we all obsess about terrorism and worry about our pending deaths, almost 80% of us are slowly committing suicide, because they are only getting about 35% of the oxygen needed to properly feed their cells. This also explains why so many people suffer from fatigue, anxiety, depression and panic attacks. Their cells are on the verge of starvation! Think about how you feel when you haven’t had a meal in just 6 - 8 hours. Pretty anxious, right? Ready to “eat a cow”?
Even if your belly is full of food, but your cells are starved of oxygen, your whole body is on the verge of panic. Most foods and beverages consumed these days do little to contribute oxygen to the body. In fact, many actively deplete it! But that's another article.
Are you only getting 30% of the oxygen you need? Here’s a quick checkup: Put your right hand on your belly and your left hand on your breastbone. Take a deep breath now, without thinking too much about it, and notice which hand rises first during the inhale. If your left hand moved first, or the most, you are one of the 80% who are breathing poorly. If your right hand moved first, you’re breathing better. But you still may need to expand your breathing capacity, and it is a very good idea. Here's why:
First and foremost, if your left hand moved first, you are not using your diaphragm muscle much when you inhale. Therefore, the air is not being pulled down into the lower section of the lungs, which contains about 70% of the alveoli (little microscopic sacks that transfer oxygen into the blood). If you are not using these little guys regularly, they are getting weak and toxins are building up in your body.
Let’s take a look at the exhale now. In addition to feeding your cells with oxygen, breathing is relied upon by the body for removal of 70% of the waste it produces. Wow! That means just by breathing properly and fully, you can dump twice as much waste as you can get rid of via sweating, urination and defecation... all combined!
This is just the first of many physical benefits of Transformational Breathwork, and it's already pretty compelling, isn't it? Especially if you are one of the 80% who breathes at 1/3 of capacity.
How do we lose our innate ability to breathe with the diaphragm? It all has to do with being "conditioned" to stuff our feelings instead of expressing them. The only way to stop ourselves from crying, as children, is to stop the breath from flowing. We become programmed to do so at a very early age. Without getting into more detail on this, suffice it to say that this is why re-establishing a healthy breathing pattern brings enormous emotional and spiritual relief.
In addition to restoring your body's automatic ability to supply itself with fuel for energy (aka "oxygen"), Transformational Breathing can restore your ability to process, honor, respect and express your feelings, thoughts and emotions, in a way that serves you and everyone around you.
When we are able to do this, we are freed from the tyranny of those energy-sucking habits of thought and behavior that can drive us crazy, wear us down, and sabotage our goals. Instead we can use our energy to focus on whatever inspires us... whatever we aspire to. It all comes down to respiration... Perhaps this is why the latin word for "breath' is espiritus.
And maybe this explains something about my favorite quote from Dr. Andrew Weil, MD… “Breath is the movement of Spirit in the Body.” Dr.Weil is a big fan of conscious breathwork. He says, “Improper breathing is a common cause of ill health. If I had to limit my advice on healthier living to just one tip, it would be simply to learn how to breathe correctly. There's no single more powerful - nor more simple - daily practice to further your health and well-being than breathwork.”
