With Life Coaching clients I base my work on the New Insights coaching programme, which is a tried and tested method based on many years of research about helping people succeed and reach their goals.
As a qualified Counsellor, my foundation is Person-Centered, which is based on Carl Rogers’ theories of unconditional positive regard, empathy and genuineness.
I qualified in Clinical Hypnosis with the Psychotherapy and Hypnosis Training Association in 1997. Also in 1997 I gained a Certificate in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP), having trained with its co-creator Richard Bandler, Hypnotist Paul McKenna and business trainer, Michael Breen.
I hold both a City and Guilds 730 Further and Adult Education Training Certificate and a Certificate in Education (Post-Compulsory) and have facilitated groups at Stockport MIND since 2002.
I have been interested in and studied psychology for many years, and have developed an in-depth knowledge of mental health issues.
I am passionate about empowering people to make the changes they choose in their lives, and love watching people grow and develop.
In my personal life I love painting, the countryside, gardening and my cats; Squealer and Spider.
Some of my favourite poems:
1.
TODAY
Today I woke up early, excited over all I get to do before the clock strikes midnight.
I have responsibilities to fulfil today.
My job is to choose what kind of day I will have today.
Today I can complain because the weather is rainy, or I can be thankful that the garden is getting watered for me.
Today I can grumble about my health, or rejoice that I am alive.
Today I can cry because roses have thorns, or be happy that thorn bushes have roses.
Today stretches ahead of me waiting to be shaped.
And here am I, the scrulptor who gets to do the shaping.
What today is like is up to me.
I get to choose what kind of day I will have!
HAVE A GREAT DAY ....
UNLESS YOU HAVE OTHER PLANS !!!
2.
DON'T QUIT!
When things go wrong, as they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudgig seems all uphill,
When funds are low and the debts are high,
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh,
When care is pressing you down a bit,
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.
Life is queer with its twists and turns,
As everyone of us sometimes learns,
And many a failure turns about,
When he might have won had he stuck it out,
Don't give up, though the pace seems slow -
You may succeed with another blow.
Success is failure turned inside out -
the silver tint of the clouds of doubt.
And you never can tell how close you are,
It may be near when it seems afar;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things seem worst that ...
YOU MUST NOT QUIT.
