Marla Oldfield, founder and president of Future Collegiate
Athletes, has had a lifelong passion for the life-lessons that can be taught
and learned through youth athletics. Marla
is a popular speaker, consultant, trainer and author specializing in youth athletics,
navigating the college recruiting process and identifying success factors for
all students preparing for the college experience. She has worked with over 500 students
representing 8 recruiting classes.
In addition, she has had an interesting career in the
corporate IT world as a software developer, relationship manager, IT recruiter,
trainer, and manager. She has also
taught a number of courses at the University
of Colorado, Metro State College, and University of Colorado
at Denver.
In 2003, Marla was introduced to the idea of counseling
families as they navigate the college athletic recruiting process. Attracted to this concept because of her own
regret over her 3-day college athletic career, she leveraged her software
development background to develop a better system to help families identify and
pursue the “right fit” colleges for their student athlete. Marla works closely with students and their
families to help them choose just the right college situation which will
provide them the best opportunity to truly succeed in every aspect of college
life and spring-board into the rest of their life. Marla provides important information to
student-athletes and their families in an entertaining, enjoyable, and
insightful manner. Marla and her husband,
Tom, are raising four active children.
They enjoy traveling the state, and the country, watching them pursue
their passions and athletic pursuits.
