As one of the few, but growing numbers of doctors who are members of ABORM, she is committed to giving the highest quality fertility treatment. Further, she is conducting research on acupuncture and female infertility in conjunction with the Fertility Physicians of Northern California for her PhD.
Four years ago Dr. Rozenn founded the Hepatitis C Treatment Clinic at Five Branches University. As an assistant professor, she enjoys teaching students to assess and treat both hepatitis C symptoms and Western antiviral drug side effects. Dr. Rozenn is a member of the Hepatitis C Task Force of Santa Cruz County, where she works in conjunction with community leaders, county health workers, nurses and doctors to manage this epidemic.
At Cedar Street Healing Arts Clinic Dr. Rozenn enjoys a diverse clinical practice. She uses both Western and Eastern diagnostic tools in her medical evaluation and diagnosis, so her patients receive the wisdom of both worlds. Maureen uses Eastern methods of diagnosis such as pulse reading, tongue observation and abdominal palpation. In addition, she incorporates Western diagnostic tools such as lab work and imaging reports into her assessment. Dr. Rozenn utilizes both conventional and alternative lab tests for evaluating gastrointestinal health, hormone levels, food and environmental allergies, and adrenal and liver function.
Acupuncture is a very powerful healing tool, which has been used for over 2,000 years. Dr. Rozenn has chosen to expand her holistic healthcare practice with a wide variety of modalities. Treatments might also include heat therapy, herbal formulas, nutritional supplements, essential oil prescriptions, plus diet and lifestyle counseling. During the first visit each patient receives a personalized treatment detailing Eastern and Western diagnosis, appropriate modalities for treatment, and measures for self care.
Hepatitis C (HCV) is an epidemic, both in Santa Cruz County and across the country. Today, HCV is the most common liver disease, even more common than alcoholic hepatitis. While fatigue is the most common symptom, HCV can also induce muscle and joint pain, depression and irritability, digestive difficulties, impaired memory, headaches, and immune system dysfunction. In response to the liver inflammation caused by the hepatitis C virus, the body starts laying down scar tissue. This process is called fibrosis. Some people have many symptoms and very little fibrosis, while others progress to cirrhosis without any symptoms.
At Cedar Street Healing Arts Clinic we offer an integrative approach to treating hepatitis C.
William Morris, MD and I treat patients from both a Western and Eastern perspective. Dr. Morris runs the Primary Care Hepatitis C Clinic on Mondays. He provides affordable high quality Western medical evaluation and treatment to those afflicted with the hepatitis C virus. Using Asian medicine principals, I design an individualized treatment plan for those with HCV encompassing: acupuncture treatment, herbal therapy, nutritional supplements, plus diet and lifestyle suggestions. While most HCV patients elect to see me in my private practice, for those with Medi-cal and financial constraints I offer a low cost teaching clinic every Tuesday afternoon at Five Branches University.
Dr. Morris and I have had HCV patients travel from as far away as South Carolina to be seen at Cedar Street Healing Arts Clinic. We are both on the provider committee of the Santa Cruz Hepatitis C Task Force and are advisory board members of the local hepatitis C patient advocate group HELP! (Help & Education for Liver Patients). Dr. Morris and I frequently consult with each other to provide our patients with the best possible integrated medical care.
The direct and the indirect lead on to each other in turn. It is like moving in a circle--you never come to an end. Who can exhaust the possibilities of their combination?
