MAx Fabry, BA, CADCII, is a graduate of the University of
Oregon, and is certified by the State of Oregon as an advanced Addiction
Counselor. She melds ten years of qualitative research with counseling skills,
and an abundance of life experiences, to offer a unique selection of personal
growth services. MAx has a private practice in Eugene, Oregon, where she offers
individual addiction counseling insuring total confidentiality for her clients.
Her approach for treating addiction is individual depending on what the core
issues of the client are, and the result of an ASAM assessment to help identify
the degree of addiction. MAx's approach is holistic, believing that the mind,
body, and spirit need to align in order for healing to begin.
Her client base includes executives and professionals such
as doctors, attorneys, judges, CEOs, actors, and political figures, with
addiction problems that cannot afford to have their identity breached. In
addition, utilizing the knowledge she gained while working on a Traumatic Brain
Injury (TBI) research project for the State of Oregon, and combining knowledge
of addiction, MAx offers hope for survivors of TBI who also suffer from any
form of addiction. MAx is also sought after for her work as a Transition Coach
helping people, in various stages of life's transitions (retirement, recovery,
divorce, empty nesters, career change, etc), to understand what they are
experiencing and to gain tools to help them move on. Her successful 'Moving-On'
workshop usually has a waiting list when presented. This workshop has recently
been translated to a 'Migrations' workshop aimed at adolescents preparing to
transition from high school into 'real life'. The workshop is also accredited by the Addiction Counselor Certification Board of Oregon (ACCBO) for 18 CEHs.
While attempting to expand her private practice to on-line counseling, she
discovered that it was not safe for her to do that---SOooo, she founded a 21st
century paradigm business: http://www.onlinewellnessassociation.com. The goal of this
business is to create a safe platform for all wellness practitioners to be able
to offer their services. MAx has been experimenting with on-line counseling since 2005 and believes that this is the direction counseling is going. Her
private practice, online businesses, and her family and friends keep her life abundantly
full. MAx believes that she is where she needs to be, doing what she is
supposed to be doing, and reaps benefits from those she helps change their
lifestyles to positive, healthy, and centered.

LIVING IN AN INSTANT SOCIETY: An Opportunity to enACT Change
Presented at the 2008 'NONVIOLENCE AS A WAY OF LIFE' Conference at the University of Oregon, Eugene, Oregon, this presentation focused on creating a discussion on how 21st century progress impedes the ability for intimate conversation between individuals, between neighborhoods, states, countries. 'ACT' is an acronym for 'Awareness, Communication, Transition'. The content of this presentation is to help people (1) recognize that we live in an 'instant' society ('I want it now!'), the expectations and implications associated with this type of society (a dominate isolated society vs a unified world society); (2) societal effects as an 'instant' society, ('just tell me what I need to know'); and, (3) strategies for individulas to ACT with non violent integrity (speaking your truth from the heart). The projected outcomes of this presentation are: (1) to understand the subtle individual psychological disturbances resulting in an 'instant' social sturcture; (2) to imply how this may impact us as individuals in a very complex world system; and, (3) to empower people as individuals to learn techniques to ACT on a non violent level.
